Does making a new character overwrite your old one?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 5:11 am

It seems the save system overwrites older saves with new ones... if I make a new character and have auto-save still running will it save over my old character?

If that is the case how can you run 2 different characters? please help

creating a new character will overwrite auto saves but not manual saves.

You can save your game under "Save" in the pause menu, don't overwrite this save if you don't want to lose your character!
If you're running multiple characters, always take a close look at the description of the save, "[character name], [character race], [character level], [current location]".

This is something I really wished Bethesda would have improved from Oblivion to Skyrim. The whole save interface is not very good at all.

Yes , i also don′t understand this.

Nevertheless there is a way for custom savegames:

you have a character A and B played simultaneously. If you switch now just save character A by open console -> type "save characterA" . Now you have a savegame with the name of player a. E.g. your char′s name is Pateng so you type in console "save Pateng1" or "save PatengWhiterun" ...something like that.

But always have on mind: Autosaves and quicksaves are still shared! So befor you play another char always make a custom savegame!

I always want to make my own named savegames, unfortunately they didn't give that to us. Maybe a patch idea! I play the Xbox copy btw.
