My Japanese friend wants to play the game, however his English isn't great. I googled around and couldn't find if it was in Japanese or not. I know the Japanese release date is late, but we are both in a country where it has been released on steam.

Yes, but the Japanese version isn't released yet. If i remember right, it should be out mid December.

Remember your friend, he's asian, so he should switch to "godmode" and just play Skyrim in English. He'll be fluent by the end of the main questline....^^
