New to TES World, what would be easy mode ?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 6:16 pm

I am for some obscure reason new to TES world,

It looks really great at first and I like the fact that you build your character like you want.... Want to be a Jack of all, go for it !!!

Thing is, I would like to discover it in some what an easy mode. I dont really have a play style, I love them all what should I be ?

Warrior
Mage
Archer

For the one you suggest me, what race and which skills should I concentrate on ?

Thanx for the help !

My advice would be to just start playing and choose whichever you like best. You don't have to choose right when you start the game, so you don't have to decide now. To answer your question, though, playing as a warrior is probably easiest, but playing as a stealthy character or a mage isn't significantly harder.

So, Orc, Heavy Armor, One hand with board and engage with bow ?

After reading more posts, Nord seem to be the choice of lots of peeps. One handed, Light Armor, Block and restoration. This sound like a Paladin to me isn'it ?

Use sneak and bow to engage and you are in for a decent fighter, a killing machine !!

Comments ?

Don't paladin's use heavy armor? I'm pretty sure they do based on multiple games I have played.

Mobidoy a general comment, which is not aimed at anyone in particular but has come to mind from reading a lot of posts. A lot of people are trying to define their characters as types; battle-mage this, ranger that but I thought the whole point of the new perk system was to remove those restrictions that were partially imposed in Oblivion. I think as you play don't try to be to restrictive based on past gaming experiences, because you may find it will spoil the fun. I made a second character a warrior type with the idea of using bows, light armor, sword and shield. It wasn't that long before I changed to two handed and spells, partly because I found the bow too slow indoors to use and I found a wicked ancient battle axe, so my character has changed due to experience. My first character has through time become very good with potions just due to experimenting, so now I use poisons which wasn't planned at all.

PS The game is pretty well-balanced so there isn't really an easy type of 'class' so choose anything.

True, they are using Heavy Armor, so, this would be the soft skin version of it ?

Yup my battlemage turned into a paladin...

Heavy armor would be the way to go. I use a sword and board but I am really becoming underwhelmed with shield bash. The stun seems so short...i barely get an attack off before a 2hander is smashing in the face again.

Resto is my favorite perk tree...and am very excited to get my once a day full heal and the extra mana regen helps a smaller mana pool.

I just hit level 30 and started having some issues when fighting some melee units now. and yes i would go nord...i am imperial and really struggling to find a single piece of gear with frost resist.

Play as an Orc - the racial power will get you out of many a tight spot. I went from getting 4-shotted by a frost troll to tearing it limb from limb. However I'm finding dual wielding to be very effective. Smithing helps as well, weapons are good, but Superior weapons are just that. :celebration:

Try a few out & see what you prefer. But i think a sneaky/archer/thief charatcer would be quite easy to play, as your role is to avoid straight up conflict, hide in the shadows & pick enemies off one by one.....ok now i wanna play it :D

Downside is that it takes a bit more patience as it can be time consuming. It's going to be my next playthrough style though, unless all this talk is gonna make me wanna rest my Mage.

Be sure and choose a character that you will not mind looking at for about 100 hours or more. As you go through the game you will find weapons and spells. Use the ones you like. Each has their own advantages. For example, heavy armor and weapons means you carry less loot. Pick a long range and short ranges weapon/skill fireballs and lightning or bows and maces. When you make it to Whiterun check out all of the shops to see what is available and let the blacksmith train you. The way they made this game you can be flexible in what your do and change your mind later as you learn more. I think that sneaking may be hardest but if you save before doing anything risky, you can try again or give up. My best advice is safe often so you can undo accidents or mistakes.

Don't play a melee type, it is so unsatisfying that scratching your crotch makes for a better way to spend your time.

Not that casting spells feels anymore fun or satisfying.

Throw a fireball, followed by a giant explosion into a bandit, running at you, he will not slow down the slightest from after being hit directly with a big ass explosive ball of fire.

Combat in Skyrim is at best, something you just get done to progress the story.

I will look into this but, remember that it always depend on the play style. I try to be open to it all but somehow, I tend to end up playing the same types.

IE: In LOTRO, I usualy roll Wardens and Hunters
WoW I was playing Hunter & Paladins

Cant remember playing a Caster type for long enough, maybe this will be a first here but for now, I will most likely end up playing a Melee with long range approach.
