follower character development!

being a huge fan of the fallout series I am pretty disappointed so far with the follower character development or lack of. They just seem to be extra NPC whose follow you around. Where is the witty remarks? where are the side story lines? Am I missing something?

The game is sorely lacking in the NPC personality department.

Marriage makes it doubly painful. Bethesda created far, far too many NPCs and then couldn't contribute anything more than a paltry three lines for character development, assuming you didn't just hire them for 500g.

You must have read my posts. Quite agree. If you're a PC user this will certainly be rectified in the coming months.

Yep. TES has never been about your companions and your relationship to them. Probably should've done some research on that before buying.

Too bad mods won't have the professionally recorded dialogue.

Other than an occational sigh and an 'oh' when I run into them, that's about it.

I've played all the TES games, I was pretty excited to see the concept of followers was coming over from the fallout series. I was disappointed to see the ball being dropped though. Still happy to have someone come along, sad they have the personality of a cardboard box.

this game is excellent so i don't like to complain but in an ideal world i would love for some interaction with companions like in DAO . It's a real shame you cant have a decent relationship with any companion.

I guess a lot of work went into the game and you cant have it all , maybe in the next one.

This is really my only complain, the rest of the system is flawless. just sad that they have a system already in place and ported it over so poorly.

I beg to differ.
Though it is different to get VO for thousands of dialog lines. ;)

I would've liked them to be a bit more fleshed out, don't get me wrong. But that's precisely why I bought the PC version, I knew most of the new "features" would be thrown in as afterthoughts at best. Modders make it a viable feature. Just a matter of time.

LoL. I love the "TES has never been about.." responses that dot every other thread. Like that's a free pass to come up lacking in certain areas of the design that would have been nice to see. You might as well say "TES never evolves in interesting ways. Probably should've done some research on that before buying." I wonder, do you use this excuse when other players ask what happened to their character stats that were a staple of the Elder Scrolls series until now? Uh oh...

I guess change is allowed only when it's convenient and easier to implement.
