I die all the time!

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 10:04 am

Hi there.
I have played 11 hours and am a level 5 imperian. Havent really done anything yet, except for exploring.
Difficulty has been on Adept, and it has been just fine.
Now i fount this cave: Shimmermist Grotto and i litteraly die all the time!

I've met falmers and spider-lookalike-creatures and they all kill me. I have now set the difficulty level to the easiest Novice, and still one [censored] wizard-falmer-thing kill me! I mean... ONE of them?!

I am aware of that fleeing is the best way to deal with some creatures (giants etc.) but this whole cave and everything inside seems way over my "level".

What should I do? Get back later, when I have levelled up?

Yes, go back later when you're leveled up. This cave clearly isn't meant to be cleared this early.

When you run into a cave and you can't get pass it. Just try a different one. I am level 16 and I still have the same problem.

Adanced creatures scale to the nearest ten I believe, for example.. you're level 5, they are level 10.

Go back later...think falmer are somewhere in the teens. they were rough anytime before that.

Went to a house at lvl 9 or so and a mage inside wrecked me in 2 hits....came back at 15 and returned the favor.

Go back later.

The cave is likely way over your level. The level scaling doesn't work like Oblivion. You may be walking into a minimum level 20 cave.

Alright, thanks guys.
I actually kind of like that the levelling system isn't like in Oblivion, makes it kind of exciting that you anytime might face invincible-like creatures! :gun:

According to Todd, the level scaling works like the following:

- When you walk into a cave, the system looks at your level and determines the level of the creatures inside accordingly.
- If you leave and come back later, they are still locked at the level assigned to them when you first came in.

This means, if you were level 5, and the system determined them to be level 10, then when you come back at level 10, they will still be at level 10.

Get some health potions or use a restoration spell.

PS: Just wait until you start meeting dragons..

Ha! That cave eh?? Yeah, that one gave me loads of problems last night. I wanted to just break something. I'm level 14 playing on expert. I can take the Falmers ok, but then the Charrusses (centipede things) tear through Lydia and I. I will be coming back to this one later.
