why doesnt magika regen bonuses work in combat?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 4:52 pm

Is there any reason? It seems like it would totally fix these complaints about mages. Also its pretty annoying that it doesn't regenerate fast when you need it, but super fast when you don't.

Wow. If +magika regen doesn't work in combat, that would explain my super slow regen rate.

Also that BETTER be a bug that will be fixed, or +magika regen gear is utterly useless.

I have no idea why they would make Magicka regeneration modifiers out of combat only. Makes them really pointless enchantments to go after.

seriously?? I never noticed this, the only reason i've taken perks in restoration is to get that 50% regen rate... if you're telling me that's useless I've pretty much nerfed my mage!

If it did work in combat, I'd be a fireball machine. I can spam dualcast all day long when not in combat. I have something like 240% bonus to regen.

It's still good and I won't part with it. There's at least one boss in the game that gives you breaks for full regen. And it lowers my downtime.

Wait a minute. I noticed it's slower than outside of combat. But it goes back to the default speed when in combat, despite the items you have? Well screw that, time to take all that [censored] off then. Doesn't even make sense, really, wouldn't one expect a mage to get magicka back faster than non-mages?

They need to just nerf the amount of regen on items or change that 240% to 150% in combat while 240% out

Magicka takes a huge hit to regen while "in combat". Makes killing large groups of enemeies (at least in the 12-15 level range) very annoying to say the least; especilly if one of them is a "boss type" (Draugr Overlord, Master Vampire, ect).

Stamina appears to be the same way (or does it not regen at all in combat?)

Just one more thing for mods to fix I suppose (sorry console users!)

well since most magic based mobs youll find in game are getting the recharge effect so they can already spam there magic like mad yet we dont definatly a bug best be fixed soon then maybe mage class might be more playable

You mana regen stat does effect how fast you regen in combat and out. It's just much slower overall in combat.

You can test it by getting into combat with something easy and draining your mana then time how long it takes to recharge. Do that with and without your regen gear on and you'll see a difference.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Still makes no sense to have super regen outside of combat. By the time you get to your next fight your magicka is usually restored even at lower levels.

There's a quest in the game that removes all your gear. And it was simply painful to be without my extra regen out of combat.

I really started to notice this after I got a couple +100% regen items. It wasn't so obvious when I only had like +50% but when I'm currently sitting at 200% I can spam lightning bolts constantly and never have my magicka bar dip outside of combat. I get into a fight and get off 6-7 shots and then I'm pulling out my swords or my warhammer, which isn't a great idea when you are wearing robes. Ah well I'm working on getting my enchantment skill up so that I can switch to heavier armor anyway, at least I know better than to stick magicka regen on my new stuff now.

There is no bug... Mana regen is slower in combat but your gear still affects it. If it was the same speed as out of combat you could cast endlessly.

There might be a bug. I noticed this yesterday and for a little while my mana didn't seem to regen at all. Of course, it's possible that I may have been hit by something to hinder regen without me noticing, but isn't there usually a message notification?
