I wanted to know if it is a viable option to play the sniper (archery/stealth) and still have a follower with you ? I got a NPC on a quest and it goes decently (hard to shoot with him in melee and harder stealthing).

Your opinion ?
there is a follower in whitrun that is more of a sneaky type, I do not see why it would not be doable.
Companions "sneak" when you sneak, and you can always just tell them to wait somewhere if you're going for a backstab or whatever, but for sniping they're fine imo.
The word sniper in this discussion is irking me, I know its a good as fit as any but I doubt they would be called that in game, or in a similar situation.
I typically find the followers more of a burden than an asset in this situation. Even the stealthy ones will sometimes charge in full bore if you get detected, Having to constantly tell them to wait kind of ruins the purpose of having them with you in my opinion.

Nothings perfect, but its better than not having the option.
I like having the option, and on another character I plan to have followers with me often. I'm just saying that I prefer to not use them on my stealth archer.
Spoiler
A certain questline saddled me with followers twice, and it actually made the trip more difficult for me.
