*minor spoilers for a quest in Markarth*

I did the quest where the guards throw you in the mines for snooping around and everything was fine. I finished the quest, moved on. Later I went to do a quest for a high elf near the Jarl who wanted proof of this old guy worshiping Talos, so I broke in his house and took proof. As I took it he walked in and saw me I guess but nothing happened, so I walked out. When I started walking back to the high elf a guard came running up to me and said the dialogue for the mine quest and that I had to go to the mines. Nothing i could say would change his mind, so I decided to do it and just walk back out. Except when I chose the option to go to the mine, it would lead to a dialogue choice that was "..." and when I chose that the guard said he was going to take me to the mines again. I would have the same options as before and there is nothing I can do except resist arrest. Luckily only this one guard was chasing me so I used the console command to kill him, but when I talk to any guard they say the same thing and I'm too afraid to be in the town any more for sake of ruining any other quests. How do I fix this? I tried using the console command to set my bounty from 1 gold to 0 but it won't change. Does anyone have any advice at all? Thanks in advance.

Okay so heres what I did its not enough for a perm fix but its enough to get the quests done that you need done in markarth and go somewhere else.
If your on xbox then what you'll need to do is change the difficulty to novice and run inside markarth then resist arrest and run back into skyrim a whole lot of guards will be chasing you you can pick them off out here when you feel in danger pull out a healing spell and go inside markarth heal up then start picking off guards again the ones with bows are easiest...then after you've killed every guard in the city your done the only real problem is when the "unkillables" try to kill you the Jarl and such...you should be able to do your quests though. If your on PC just do a kill console command or whatever OP did. I heard somewhere too about going back into the shrine of talos and paying off the bounty you could try this however when I tried to do this, the guards would just attack me. Good Luck.

PS They will hopefully fix this glitch in patch 1.2 because I'm sure they've heard about it by now.

Use the console command paycrimegold if you are playing on the PC version. Should fix the issue.
