Any XBox-360 Players having no issues: I have PC version, ge

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 6:50 am

I have the PC version and love it. Read all the horror stories and thought I would have to place the game on the shelf until a patch and the opposite is true. My system is 3 years old, plays the game on high settings and very few issues; no complaints.

Now my son has a powerful PC but prefers Xbox so asked me if I would get him the game for Xbox..

Seeing all the negative threads here reminds me of what I experienced before getting my own PC copy.

Can I get a fair response on if getting the Xbox version of the game is a good idea and what I "should" know in advance?

Hearing from any who have an Xbox-360 that's 3 years old would be particularly helpful.

Thanks -T

You'll probably have more moments of laughter rather than facepalming with the minor bugs that you'll see.

No problems here. Haven't noticed the texture bug either.

I'm playing on an original 360 I bought in April of '06 and no complaints. I'm 20+ hours in and haven't experienced a single crash or gameplay bug yet.

i have the xbox version and through 42+ hours, its crashed on me a total of 5 times and once due to my internet crashed from charter having issues. i set my settings to save every 5 min.
i havent had anyother major issues. the crashes out of 5, 4 of them have been while in my xbox menu while in game, and the other was from a dark brotherhood quest when the screen went dark, it stayed dark.

there are obviously some glitches, some annoying things here and there but overall not to bad. 5 of my friends have the game and we all party up together and they have crashed a few times as well but overall we all have had no other majors issues or anything to make us want to stop playing.

hope this helps.

oh and side note, i keep here both sides on adding the game to your hard drive. i heard its bad to add it because the games meant to load off the disc, but a hdd is a disc so i dont know what thats about but i saw it on a ign/gamestop article. i dont have mine installed anymore and the load times have increased by about 3-5 seconds and it still crashed since i removed it.

I play on a 360, have the game installed and do not have any texture issues or any other issues for that matter.

Game plays great and looks great on my TV.

I have put in over 20 hours and no problems at all. I don't know why some are having problems when most Xboxes are pretty much identical. Since they are having problems, they should be unhappy. The ones not having trouble are playing the game now and not releasing their pain on this forum. The only reason I am not playing now is because I am at work.

I am running on my 60gb "fat" 360 that's about 3 years old. It's a Jasper model, if that helps you any. I am now level 19 and the game has been running near flawless. I say "near" because I have had one freeze on a loading screen and have noticed a *tiny* bit of frame studder every once in a long while, but those are very minor and rare occurences and should not be interpreted as a complaint. Overall I am thrilled with the performance on my 360, and do not regret the decision. It is a good idea regardless of what you play on to keep multiple save files and backups on another device, if possible.

Regarding the "texture bug" reported on 360's, I have not had issue at all with that. I started out the first few days running off the disc and not installing, as it was purported that the bug stemmed from being installed to the hard drive. Yesterday I installed the game to my 8gb sandisk thumb drive and everthing is the same (whew-relief), except a slight improvement in load times.

I don't have a PC, so my choice was between PS3 and 360. I have no favor of one system over the other, except I chose Skyrim on 360 because I find the controller on 360 more comfortable.

No issues at all. Running off of disc. I played about 30 hours so far, no crashes, tears, nothing. I said this in another thread. If you slam things around when you play, it hurts the machine, and discs in the machine. Have that ring problem? Yes? Then it's you I'm talking to. Also, clean your Xbox out regularly with a vacuum and don't run it in an enclosed space.

The issues I've had on my 360 have been minor, and I'm running off an older model 60gb.

I've yet to encounter the dreaded texture issue, but occasionally the lighting will go wonky in caves. If you have magelight or candlelight, that will make things easier to see. My romanced companion is glitched to hell and back, but insofar as I can tell, that's only happened to me.

Other than that, I haven't seen any xbox only issues; there's the normal 'help, I'm stuck in physics' but that's cross platform, and I've yet to crash.

You guys are the best. I really appreciate your responses.

So the general verdict regarding installation is:

1) "Don't Install and run off Disc",

2) "Install because load times are faster" ??

If my son installs and has issues and wants to uninstall and run off disc I assume his saved games will still be there. Correct.

Thanks again. Great community.

Uninstalling shouldn't delete your saves, but if you want to be on the safe side, back them up on a memory card.

Playing from disc or installing does not matter from what I heard. I have been playing it installed for 20+ hours with no issues other than not enough time to play.

IM playing off the disc with 0 issues. Lucky I have the slim so i dont hear the disc nor does my 360 get beyond warm. Not like Jet engine that was my white 360. Both my RRODs were while playing Oblivion and Fallout 3 from the disc.

Deleting an installed game off a 360 does not affect saved games or any other updates or files associated with that game.

To delete an installed game:
1) On the dashboard, go to your game library
2) Find the game in question
3) Select the game details (It is one of the face buttons, X or Y)
4) Select "Delete Game"

It is a very simple and fast process. I would suggest trying it installed first and if you notice texture issues delete it.

Couple crashes on XBox 360.

No HDD install, and not texture issues.

I'm playing it on the 360. I have it installed to my HDD, and I have experienced zero issues with any part of the game. It runs smooth, and looks great. You son shouldn't have any problems at all OP.
