Arrows failing to Register

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 6:15 am

Hi, been playin Skyrim for about 11 hours now, and I find at extreme range sometimes what i would call medium range, arrows simply pass through animals and npcs etc without registering a hit - its quite clear to see the dust kicked up immediately behind them by the arrow, so I know it should hit them. I tried this against a mammoth as well, I'll be damned if I can't hit a mammoth at 100 yards... I have pretty much used a bow of some kind exclusively in my playthough so far, so I am not terrible at aiming. I also did the same thing in Oblivion for around 100 hours, so bow competence I dont think is the issue with the particular problem I'm having. Does anyone know of this issue or have themselves experienced it? It seems you have to move into the games' accepted range for targeting entities rather than if you can see it you can shoot it. At the moment I am a little disappointed by this :(

this vid clearly shows max range, and its pretty short if you think about how far dragons are away. also explains why yu barely hit a moving dragon.

I noticed the same thing during a mission where you have the option to kill an unmoving NPC lying on the ground. I was clearly inside a rather close shoothing range, just far enough so he wouldn't see me and after about 20 arrows I gave up on that. =/ Hope they patch that up...

I've seen the same thing. It stinks when you are hiding and it alerts people to your presence.
