Any good Archer advices?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 7:04 pm

Hello and sorry if you think i have been posting too much lately..

Anyways, i am playing as an Archer(sneaky) and i have been sticking with an Ancient nord/draugr bow since the first dungeon quest and armor from the thieves guild, dark brotherhood and Fornsworth wich all improves something that has with sneaking to do with it like archery, sneaking, pickpocket, better prices etc.. I think it's tim for something new :P So i am asking you guys to help me :D
Anyone know where i can find good archer/sneaking armor/jewelry, bows and arrows? This would help me A LOT and i would greatly appreciate it if you gave me some advice!
Thank you!

Where to find them? Usually in chests and corpses. Also weapon vendors.

How about investing in Alchemy? You can make potions to help keep you alive, and you can make poisons to help take care of enemies.

Smith an Elven Bow, those got me a long way. Or find an elf with one and kill it, nobody will care if you kill a bunch of Thalmor.

Don't try to go for headshots. They do the same damage as one in the arm or leg.
Also, there's a quest you can do for the DB where you can get "Ancient Shrouded Armor" or something. It's even better than the default DB armor.

North East of White Run on the small mountain, there's a dragon wall, called Shearpoint, which I would advise visiting before the dragons come, next to this wall there's a coffin with one of those floating guys in it, kill the floating guy if you can, and he'll drop his mask, which makes Archery, Alchemy and Lockpicking 20% better, it also looks awesome and you can wear a falmer helmet underneath, not sure about other helmets though.

investing in the sneak perk would help you more than anything. Aside from enchanting things I havent found much in the way of assisting with sneaking....there are some things but havent made much of a difference. Dark brotherhood has some ninja looking armor aside from looking cool tho it doesnt help much in that dept.

you can steal an elven bow from a lock case in the companions hall, its downstairs where they sleep, that thing took me all the way till i could make glass
you want to go for more stamina, and you want the perk that slows time while zoomed in as soon as u can get it

As bad as it might sound, I'm using a bow from early in the game too. :)

I'm using the Imperial Bow of Fear. I'm only 12th lvl, so I might find something better soon, but for now, this thing rocks. It just started working better, I guess my skill lvl might have been the problem, I'm 30 or 31 in bows. It allows me to pick one baddie out of a crowd and send them off the other direction, feared, while I deal with the others. One opponent feared might not seem like a lot, but when you're wearing light armor, every bad guy going the other way counts huge!!

Don't need to specialize, picking up a little never hurt anyone, and it is one of the few ways to actually get high end gear, which is insanely rare.

As for elves to kill? just wander around the main roads, you'll bump into some Thalmor Jackasses, and by the time you're done talking to them you will be more than happy to kill them to death.

Make Faendal your companion, he can teach you Archery and improve your skill up to 50.
Not for free- he charges you the normal fee.
But you can simply retrieve your cash by accessing the companion options and lift it from his inventory .... ridiculous but true.
