Todd's Skyrim

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 5:11 pm

I'm loving this game.

Despite it's many downfalls, glitches, bugs etc etc. which I'm confident that these will all be addressed soon (crosses fingers) I am in love with thhe world of Skyrim.

But I have one question: Which platform is Todd running Skyrim on during the demos?

He clearly stated it as an Xbox 360 (which I have also) but my Xbox has no where near the graphics and textures in his demo. Todd goes on to say that they have focused alot on the 'micro detail' of the game and shows this in the demo, where I can clearly see the detail. On my set-up, Xbox and 46inch LED HD TV I don't get anywhere near the textures.

I understand that there are issues re. cache, HDD, installing, uninstalling, updating etc etc etc I have tried all the remedies but to no avail. I own a normal Xbox 360 Slim 250gb HDD, never had problems before. There is a very clear difference with his game to mine especially close up.

How can I get the same textures as Todd's in the videos? What has he done to soup up his xbox?

Anyone know? Anyone has exactly the same detailed textures as Todds in the demo (on Xbox)?

Anyone help please.

Does anyone have EXACTLY the same graphics and textures as Todds in the demo (Xbox 360)? If yes, how did you do this?

Nope. It's doctored if you ask me. Latest xbox version and $2500 screen and I'm not getting what he is. Now at timse some of it is very close but I've matched specific views that he had and the textures are no were near the same.

This is going to sound sad, but I've done the same thing. I've matched many many scenes to his from the demo, such as the woolly mammoths close-up, and I'm not getting the super detailed textures at all. The same when the Toddmeister zooms close to a plant, I don't get any of that texture detail.

There must be someone out there on the Xbox who has no problems with textures and is running the same quality as Todd, I want to know what there secret is?

When do games ever look like the marketing videos and screenshots? the industry is built on hype and dishonesty.

It might be because of the recording over.

What I mean is when I play on my TV with my 360 it is a little stretched looking but similar in visuals, but my recording on my HD PVR of gameplay actually looks better.

Its not doctored per-say, but if you think they were going to show you anything that didn't look its absolute best, then you are wrong.

They probably put a week or two preparing those videos, making sure everything looked great.

The player is not confined to the video and can move anywhere and see things the video doesn't show.

The "secret" is that the demos were early beta, and they optimized for performance (and possibly for the single disk install) during late beta. Also for demos they probably ran with all their original uncompressed textures at highest quality on a suped-up xbox demo machine.

"Dragons have radiant AI. They're not scripted."

Watch a dragon from the distance. Enjoy the view as it flies in a circle for hours.

"This snow wasn't placed there, it's all dynamic depending on the weather."

Stare at a pile of snow for hours. Take screenshots of it from day to day. Nothing happens.

"In Oblivion, AI is all dynamic and radiant. This character will realize her archery skill svcks and take a potion to fix that. She'll realize her dog is barking and yell at it."

"Hello"
"It's you, hi."
"Farewell."
"Goodbye!"

I would wait until they fix the texture issue with a patch and then compare. They know they have a problem so let them fix it first and then compare. :)

I wish I could buy Todd's copy of Skyrim, that would solve alot of things :)

Seriously though, I take it from the lack of positive response that no one here on this forum has replicated Todd's version of Skyrim with highly textured 'micro-detail'?

Hmmm to be honest he did say Xbox 360 controller. Not exactly Xbox 360 the console.

Like me, I've got my PS3 bluetooth dongle setup on my PC. I'm enjoying all the eye candy on my PC rig from the comfort of my recliner and a brew in the cup holder on the 55" LCD.

Not difficult to understand folks.

On my pc the game looks better than any of the demos or walkthroughs. I havent even tweaked it yet with any of the .ini files but running in on ultra settings is givng me close to photo realisitc gameplay. Walking through the aspen groves near riften is glorious.

It was definetly very different, you can tell that all the parts in the e3 demo don't match the final game, mostly inside bleek falls barrow has a totally new layout.

But the final game doesn't really look worse, I thought it had just as much detail as the demos, unless you have the texture bug, then you can't really blame them.

You are completely wrong there. "Watch a dragon from the distance when it shows up anywhere at random. Enjoy the view as it flies in around causing chaos to any living thing it sees."

There, fixed for you, and it's true, the dragons are completely random and unscripted in what they do or attack. I have personally SEEN a dragon fly off when there is nothing around, not just circle lazily. You playing the same Skyrim I am?

Seconded. Dragons behave dynamically for me. I was walking along once and I saw a Blood Dragon engaged in a battle with the bandits in a fort. It killed them, then proceeded to circle until it saw a giant, which it ate. Then I killed it and ate its soul.
