Can someone please take a few minutes and explain to me how enchanting works exactly? I must be ignorant because it's confusing to me. Please explain what I need to have as far as items, and what the process is to enchant something. Also does the enchantment last permanently?

take a magic item. one you do not want to use. ever. disenchant it. now enchant that ability into somethiing. this will slowly up your enchanting.

when you find an enchant you like on something that you don't actually want to use, disenchant it and put it on something you want to use. if you buy perks you can enchant better stuff.
