Home frustration.

In Oblivion I really enjoyed having a house, and with the interaction button, I could move everything around accurately (most of the time) and I could bring home my loot and jewels, etc, and just customize my house and put stuff everywhere. I know a lot of people loved this aspect of the game, too.

Well, I can't do that in Skyrim. I was looking forward to buying a house, and finally got one in Whiterun. The bookshelf was very convenient, and the weapon racks were kind of cool, but that's where it ends. It seems there's an invisible wall on the bookshelves, so forget about trying to get anything else in them. There's some floaty physics in the game too, where objects tend to float and have parameter preventing you from laying them down. Also the interaction button doesn't work for all objects, and only ones you can pick up, which makes me feel like the world isn't as interactive as before.

But, that's not the biggest problem. After spending over an hour setting up my loot and what not where I wanted it, I was happy, though frustrated because you can't accurately pick things up. Only as a whole can you pick them up. So, I spent so much time pushing things against the edge of things just to turn it, lol. Anyways, after everything was set up, I left. I thought hey, I'm finally done. I come back, and it looks like a tornado swept through my house and knocked most of the stuff down. Some items stayed, but I even lost something due to this unseen tornado of frustration. I reloaded just to make sure, left, came back. Yeah. It's definitely a problem. I just left, and stopped giving any effs. But, it's the most frustrating thing I've dealt with, seeing as how it's about the only one.

Sorry for the long read. Anyone else have any stories on this, or had problems like this?

Yeah, I can agree with what you've said. I lost my wabbajack and had to reload back to level 44 from 48 back just to get it. And placeing things is just a nightmare... I miss how it was in morrowind :( you just looked at where you wanted it droped it and it was there perfectly placed and unable to magically fly across teh room when your gone.

i noticed in Bethesda's Fallout, not in Oblivion, that entering my house always triggered collisions with a lot of my stuff. It was like the physics engine woke up when the place was loaded and everything was asserting its own place and elbowing everything aside, sometimes violently.

I spent many an hour decorating in Oblivion and Morrowind, but it's not as much fun or as satisfying now. Maybe it will get better.

Yeah I remember the mage guilds in morrowind had stacks and stacks of stuff that i looted. Then my Oblivion houses had all my different weapons and armors COVERING the floors and all my display cases were full. So far in Skyrim I just put everything in my chests and bookcase.
