I'm playing a sneak archer wood elf, and I really liked having lydia follow me around as a tank for when I messed up or just a distraction, an extra axe helps in any battle right? But for some reason while doing a quest last night to get Nettlebane for the priest Danica in Whiterun, a Witch knocked lydia down which happens all the time, I was still sneaking when this happened though and I couldn't see her body through the tall grass. I killed the witch (was actually like a boss form of a witch named Hargred or something) but then I couldn't find Lydia anywhere, I was already losing her a lot because she couldn't follow me though the mountains, but now she is just gone when I went to turn in the quest some pilgrim started following me because he wants to go see this tree or whatever I have to go to. I checked dragonsreach in Whiterun for her too see if she just got sent back there. But she isn't there either. I was really getting used to having her and it made the game a little more enjoyable, having her around made me feel a little bit more comfortable lol. Is there anything I can do to get her back?
Do I need to take an epic rescue trip back to the place she may have died at?
I MUST SAVE LYDIA!!!!

I lost my Lydia tonight, as well!

You can wait a few hours, thats what I usually do, if that doesnt work, check Dragonsreach. If shes not around there, then she might be dead.

Lydia is pretty useless.

So many saves and reloads....


... eventually I got a mage and it solved all the problems



Now I just need a proper way to say my final... "goodbye" to Lydia, a way fit to express my feeling of our long companionship...

Man this pilgrim svcks too he doesn't even take commands, Im gonna stop at a bandit camp from an old quest on my way to this sacred tree, and I have a feeling he is just gonna get himself killed

I was running through the tundra when I noticed she wasn't close behind me. Backtracked and found her corpse, oh well I didn't reload due to RPing.

This is tragic she really dies? fml guess I really have to step up sneak game when I have to clear a room with 6 melee's and 3 archers

I guess she does after awhile, she had been incapacitated a number of times. Maybe there is a cap and then she dies?

No, I found it that she only dies on the hands of enemies much stronger than her. Or to a lot of enemies attacking her at the same time.
Try putting her up agaisnt a giant, you'll have an orbiting Lydia in no time.
My Lydia died when she got swarmed by nearly 7 Alik'r goons, really early in the game.

I really couldn't see what was happening to her because my char was way too high, soaring over the mountains.

Would be cool if the Jarl acknowledged the fact my housecarl (was that the word?) has died, would like a new one or a funeral service or something

I noticed in this video it says talk instead of check or whatever, maybe if you cleared the area of hostile and talk to her she will revive? I'm desperate to get her back will be my own little epic quest once my character is stronger

I don't know, when I did that same thing to another follower of mine, he was really dead.

I lost Lydia to a giant wailing on her while I was distracted fighting a dragon. It happened near those two large bridged towers that overlook a waterfall...which were formerly full of bandits.

I picked her up, dragged her up the stairs and onto the bridge. I held a solitary funeral for her and chucked her body off the bridge and watched as it disappeared over the edge of the waterfall.

It was a beautiful service :'(
