So, what role is YOUR character?

So, I'm sure there has been threads like this already made but w/e.

Eventually I'm going to make a new character, and I'm curious as to what other people are playing for hopes of deciding what to play next. So, share. What are you playing?

Here's what I'm playing:

My character is a mage/rogue/assassin that is based purely off of indirection. My main skills are Conjuration, Illusion, Sneak, Alteration (trying to get this leveled, pain in the butt at it's current level though), and eventually when I get enough spare perk points One-Handed Weapons. Basically, for most dungeons I play like a rogue, doing things in stealth, avoiding combat while still getting the job done. Sneak + backstab + conjured swords are really effective at killing people in one blow and make for some cool final blow cuts, and if I fail to sneak up on them and get caught, high levels of calm fixes things. In a room of two or more, a shot of fury from the shadows makes for a slick way to clear a room. No armor (made up for by alteration perks) and spectral weapons means zero weigh down by gear. Undead and other non-living things are currently a bit trickier, but once I get my Illusion up a bit, it'll be all the same. Oh, and invisibility plz?

Now, sometimes you gotta step up to the plate and throw down with some harder things, like higher level bosses, dragons, etc. Sometimes there is a room of tough undead mobs that won't die in one backstab and even if/when I get the stab off I still have 3 more to contend with as a squishy mage. That's where the Conjuration takes over. Eventually, I'll be able to summon 2 atronarchs that are 50% better than normal ones and wipe the floor with anything, but for now I have to rely on smart positioning and summoning them one at a time. Overall, it makes for an interesting game play that is less about combat and more about assessing situations and making smart choices, while having an arsenal of magic to aid you in any given situation (minus destruction, I find that boring and faceroll, and I don't depend on Restoration).

Your turn :) What do you play?

I made a male breton. My skills are one handed, destruction, alteration, restoration, light armor, smithing and enchanting. I guess that would make me a spellsword or battlemage. Pretty bad ass fighter either way.

I'm a male Breton.
He's sort of a Jack of all trades. Mostly using Sword n shield, but I use Archery, stealth and Magic when the occasion calls for it.
I plan on making a new character, an assassin/thief. I imagine it'd be more immersive belonging to just one skill type.

Just out of curiosity, how does the "jack of all trades" playstyle pan out in this game? I've gone up against some really hard stuff that I barely manage to clear, and only by luck, and while I'm not the most focused character it's definitely not as spread out as a jack of all trades. It seems to me that you would just end up being weak at everything. Is that your experience or do you handle well?

Thor a'Zyyne is a Nord male Barbarian. No magics. He's currently Level 6 and concentrating on 1-hand, Heavy Armor, Smithing, Blocking, and has a hobby of Lockpicking.

I like playing the Nord Barbarian role in Skyrim. Just seems to fit with this game perfectly. Could never play a male fighter in Oblivion for some reason.

He is a shadow, his targets never even know he's there until they feel the cool steel of Mehrunes Razor touch their flesh for that one instant before they embrace eternal sleep. He's also a homosixual Male Argonian Shadow Scale(Assassin) that is happily married to an Argonian Miner/Fisherman named Dakeethus. He's VERY stealthy(92 Stealth) and he knows how to smith some quality light armor, he's kinda average with everything else(One Handed, Pickpocketing, lockpicking, speech, are at around 50 while everything else is maybe 25?).

Well, i think this class may sound abit weird for some off you, but ive chosen to go Mainly 1 handed, with Light/heavy armor, Alittle Archery ( use it alot when i fight dragons), Restoration, enchanting and alittle Destruction. The reason i use this many types is that i really use them all pretty much. I use 1 handers alot. But i find both Archery and Destruction very helpfull from time to times so ive choosen to make a characther that is alittle powerful on different things but has a main" perk " tree.

Imperial, whose strong suits are 2 handed weapons and Archery, and using restoration magic primarily, and destruction spells as a last resort, or to vary his approach. I feel sneaking and not being seen is fundamentally a must for all combat in any world of Elder Scrolls.
