Sound issue using headset

Loving Rage so far but have one small annoying issue.

I usually use my set of Sharkoon headphones when gaming. These work fine for all my games...except Rage. For some reason when I load Rage up the lights on the decoder box of my headset go out. The power light stays on but the Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital lights go off, signalling that no signal is being received. Currently the sound is output from my PS3 to the decoder box via an optical cable. If I change it to HDMI to my AV amp, everything is fine. It's only if I try to use the headset that I get no sound. However I don't think it's the headset as this works fine with all my other games, including Fallout 3 and NV. I've checked all the settings and can't see where the problem is!

It's quite annoying as it means when I play late at night I have to turn the sound right down rather than being able to still have it at a reasonable volume level.

ANy ideas as to what the problem might be?

The problem may lay in the receiver itself. I had a similar issue with my Ear Force DSS. Basically, it worked fine with all my games except Battlefield Bad Company 2. I would get sound hiccups, and once a sound distortion with the Dolby Digital Led and Pro Logic IIX led frantically blinking. I end up returning it to Turtle Beach on Monday of this week for a replacement. Hopefully, one the works with BFBC2 this time and along with all my games. I suggest contacting your Skarkoon's costumer service, they're a German company so I don't know what the service is like.

Finally figured the problem out last night. Similar solution to the above. Went into the sound settings and unticked the DTS option on the PS3 and hey presto it worked. Strange as I thought that the sound track on Rage was only Dolby Digital, as with the majority of my other games, so wouldn't be affected in this way.

Still, it all works now so not overly bothered that I'm 'only' getting a DD sound track rather than DTS.

Ya whoops it's dts not dss sorry. Your right rage does run on dts but for some reason some games won't put out sound if your using headphones. Another game it does this with is uncharted. These games have really great sound and for some reason it works this way. Very odd. Glad you found it though.
