I was finishing up some races, failed to meet a time and hit the triangle to retry the race. This was the second time I was retrying this race. The game does a save between races. This last time, it started saving and after awhile came up with an error that it could not save and only gave the option of retrying the save (I have 92gig of free space). I retried a couple times but it continually came back with the could not save error. I had no other option than to power off the PS3.
Upon restarting the PS3 and reloading the game the following message comes up

"There was an error initializing the trophy system. Trophies will be disabled." This is before the initial Rage screen even comes up with the "Press Start" screen, and hence before even selecting Campaign.

I had two solid saves before this happened. One in Wellspring and one in Subway town. Trying to load these, then exit out and come back in, same error - trophies disabled.

31 hours in, all bobbles, field goals, sewers, sewer cleanups, all jobs, recipes, all jumps, in one pass, 40% of trophies, with only Capital city to finish and it looks like I'm going lose all my trophies for a following Nightmare pass.

I assume my only option is to nuke my user data and lose it all?

I finished the game, and as the error at game start indicates, the trophies for completion were not granted.

I went ahead and deleted all my user data, hoping things would come back alive. No luck. I deleted the whole game and reinstalled it … no joy … same error. Right after the first copyright screens etc. it comes up with this error message:
"There was an error initializing the trophy system. Trophies will be disabled." After you press x on this error screen, it comes up with the "Rage, press start" screen, so this is even before its loaded the campaign or saves etc.

It was bad enough losing all my progress, but now it appears I'm unable to use the trophy system at all. This is a bummer.

Is there anything I can do to get things reset?

Note:
In the previous post, I only uninstalled Rage, but did not uninstall the sewers DLC pack. I deleted both of these from my PS3 and reinstalled both of them from scratch. I no longer get the error at start up stating that the trophy system is disabled. So fingers crossed, and started into a nightmare difficultly pass, hoping I can get the remaining trophies as I go through.

Nightmare difficultly pass – back up to the Prison mission, newly earned trophies are showing up fine.

I really do love this game – even after getting bit on this crash.
