Online Road RAGE Chat RAGE & Strangeness from Players

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 8:21 pm

Some rude players online who are blabbering to each other and when you say 'Hey, what's up?' they say 'Shut the %&#@! up!' or I say nice kill when they kick my @#! and they say 'Shut up @#@#!' and start talking in another language to each other.

When one match started one player saw that other players had their mic on and started screaming to turn the $%%#@ mic off! Turn the $%%#@ mic off! I mean screaming as loud as one person could! When I eventually killed him in the match he went ballistic and threatened to find me (physically) and kill me then went on to tell me how he's going to (something they do in prison) to me!! I left the match and said forget this $%%@!.

Is this typical? Can we expect this behavior? I'm just trying to have fun here!

Can you report someone who threatens you with physical violence or sodomy?

Yes, this is normal on psn. These are kids. Some will even start sending you nasty messages via psn. If they do, you can take screenshot and send to sony. But generally, don't bother. They are lots of very disturbed children on psn. If messaged on psn, you can block their id. I have long list of blocked [censored]s mostly from playing Risk Factions online. They can't take being attacked.

not normal for me. I do occasionally run into someone who is rather loud and obnoxious however I just mute them and continue to play.
just hit the select button go to there name and hit square then you can't hear them. if they send you PSN messages then block them and problem solved.
you can report a PSN message just select it in your inbox and hit triangle then select report.

@firestartar I am sorry you have had such a bad experience but I must disagree with how you worded your response. You make it sound as if the majority of people on PSN are there to harass each other. most of the people I run into either don't have mic or are also there to have fun.

@MaxxAmmo If you like you can add me to play RAGE with online. I promise the only unpleasant thing that will ever come from my headset would be my dogs barking if there is someone outside and I usually mute my mic until the quiet down to be respectful of the other players who don't want to hear my dogs bark.
PSN ID: the_only_wizard please say something like from RAGE forums in your friend request if you do add me I usually don't respond to blank friend request's.

Oh my, sorry if my response gave that impression. That's not what i meant at all! Majority of psn users are matured nice people, i know a lot of gamers and i have made many great friends via psn.

I wanted to mean that its normal to occasionally to meet obnoxious gamers on psn who like insult or threaten others, and to stress the point that these mainly are kids.

Welcome to internet, where everyone can be a-holes with no repercussions. I remember my first online gaming experience, it was F.E.A.R multiplayer on PC and everybody was just nasty on the text chat. I thought it was all a joke but no, there's a lot of a-holes in the internet. It doesn't matter if it's on PSN, Xbox Live, or PC, a-holes are everywhere.

I didn't mean to give the impression it was everyone I met online while playing RAGE. It was a tough day or two when it seemed like the majority of the time people were being real DB's, but I haven't played RAGE a lot online yet.

I actually met a couple of great people I hope to see online again, with some the time difference may make it difficult.

Thanks, good advice, I didn't know you can still mute them after the match started.

Play the game.

Search for a few freinds with grace and start the "clan of policy".
This is the best way for a good online game.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the internet where every idiot around thinks he can say what he want's without being identified. It's the same on PC and Xbox-live. And absolutley right: it's kids in most cases.
Had the same discussion on the Gearbox forum when DNF came out.

If possible, make some friends on PSN and play only private games. Anything else is a waste of time.
