Is the ps3 xbox texture popping finally fixed?

I cursed id for releasing RAGE looking the way it did. I stopped playing immediatly and sold it (30$) my loss of 35$ from $60 on release day. I swore I'd never by another id game again. Is it safe to come back yet?

Nope, and I remember a tweet from John Carmack where he basically stated that they were not going to fix it which is an absolute disgrace if you ask me. I personally don't care anymore as I finished the game a long time ago and am not planning on touching it ever again.

There's nothing to fix there. The consoles are under spec memorywise for a game like Rage. The texture loading is part of the concept of the engine. If the consoles had more memory or faster storage media, texture pop in or fade in would not be noticable. The other option would have been to lower texture resolution in general which would have had a greater negative impact on the visuals as it is now.
It's a miracle that Rage is running this good on ridiculously low 512MB at all!

Yeah the texture quality was lowered in Skyrim (for ps3 at least) and now they're ignoring people who have picked up on this. Frustrating.

Granted I'm no expert but how can the ps3 be under spec for rage if you look at the visuals in God of War 3? is it the scale of the game?

The megatexture technology used for Rage and the large open areas with almost no texture repetition uses way more memory than god of War 3.
It's that simple. Rendering power isn't everything. You still need lots of memory to store the graphics data used for rendering the frame and that's what Rage needs most and what consoles don't have...
