cannot play RAGE at all after installing

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:50 am

Been looking around for support on this but so far i have came up empty.

I insalled the first disc (i only have a 20gb hdd so couldnt install all of them) and cannot play the game at all. I can get through the first five minutes up until the first mission. then all the textures stop loading and the game freezes and my xbox crashes.

I uninstalled the game and have been running it off the disc alone with no issues, but i would like to install this to the harddrive for the performance boost.

I tried installing it again after getting about an hour into the game and the same thing happend. nothing loaded properly and as soon as i tried to leave the city i was in the game immediately crashed.

have never had a problem with my harddrive before, so i dont think that is the issue

any ideas? btw loving the game so far.

HDD can die after 5 years of use or sooner if used a lot daily. you may want to get a new HDD or just go for the new Slim 360 with a 250 gig.

I'm having the same issues on my end. Clearing system cache and rebooting seemed to fix the problem but it's back again. I have a pretty new Xbox 360 Elite (black) system that I purchased to replace my old white one just a couple months before the Slim debuted. It's very strange though I did have freezing issues when I tried to play Gears of War 3 once installed. Uninstalling fixes the issue entirely and texture pop-in doesn't seem much worse compared to when it's installed. Although I'm only in the 1st part of the game.

You might want to make sure your 360 is getting good airflow while playing -- it does sound like you could be having some issues with the HDD.

This is my experience almost to a "T". Except that I never got into the game. When I 1st installed, it never made it past the intro. I uninstalled, works great from DVD. Played for awhile, installed, but it would just freeze on the LOAD screen. I also noticed when it is installed the disk is still spinning.

I have a 250 GB HD and I have several games installed on it. All are still working just fine. So I highly doubt it is the HD. And yes I have REALLY good air flow and not other problems with my machine.

I had these problems. However, I also had the same issue with Gears of War 3. Anyway, my HDD essentially died last night and my profile got corrupted. Luckily, I had a Chinese HDD that Xbox Support said was cool to use and I'm on that now with no problems. It definitely helped with texture pop-in too.

Better not be my HD...it's not that old.

I guess I will continue to play and see what happens. May try another install and see how that goes. Though I'm not holding my breath,

Same problem now, when I first played after installing the first disc it was flawless after I jumped to the second disc it got near unplayable towards the end, had to uninstall it to finish the game. Same problem with third game after installing it wouldnt even start, gave me a screen of hard drive errors and stuff, had to uninstall and still the last level of Legends didnt want to work right, kept losing audio and detail faded away even two of our guns disappeared.

I can only hope this game didnt screw up my HDD and since Battlefield 3 is going the same route as Rage did with the installs I hope they are more successful cuz this is annoying.

I did end up trying and no luck. Just get's stuck on the loading screen forever. Eventually the disk stops spinning, but otherwise nothing else changes. I have tried other games with no issue. Seems to be the game IMO. Could just be the copy I received tho.

Folks at the office said it's most likely something with your hard drive. You could try contacting customer support to see about getting a replacement copy of the game, but you might also want to try a friends HDD to see if that makes a difference.
