Post » Fri May 11, 2012 10:56 pm

As seen in the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFQt5xd7puk video on 0:46 seconds the sceen splits in 2. So my question is ... will the consoles be aible to play local co-op via split screen?

Yes, the consoles have local co-op by splitscreen. The PC version does not have splitscreen. Both PC and console versions have online co-op.

Music to my ears. A buddy and I have a ritual where we'll pick up some beer and break in a new game on it's release day. Couldn't do it with Dead Island...

Do you have a source for that?

Same here, local co-op is the BEST!

I HATE Split-screen. I can't even stress how much I hate it. I just don't like it. I really don't have a reason why, but I just don't. Hahaha. So, I'm glad it has online co-op.

If you don't like it, don't use it. I enjoy playing with people who are in the same room. Preferences.

As if not using it wasn't the obvious option for me. I just posted my opinion. So, commenting and acting like I don't know what I'm talking about or doing isn't really necessary, now is it? I was merely stating an opinion. But thanks anyways.

It's not a problem whether or not my friends are in the room, I just feel like I'm not getting my full field of view in the game. I know I am, and that it's just squashed up, but for some odd reason, I feel claustrophobic, if you understand what I mean.

On consoles you can play co-op split screen. And also online. What is not if you can play co-op with 2 different TVs and xbox connected by LAN.

well If you have 2 xboxes/ps3s then you can always just make an "online" co-op game and play that way. Did that quit allot with GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption.

I hope that's not the case. When I'd play split screen co-op mode on RE5 with a buddy, the framerate got reeeally bad.

Yes! You can do split screen on PS3 & 360. It's online only for PC.

If the PC version supports controller input, why doesn't it support splitscreen aswell on PC? Just asking - eg. Unreal Tournament 3 (unofficially) supports splitscreen on PC.

I have removed several posts which were either flaming another member, responding to flames or flamebaiting.

Please discuss this in a mature manner and with respect for even those with whom you disagree. It is possible to disagree without resorting to namecalling and rudeness and conveying one's superiority. Here we are all the same, members with thoughts and ideas and the freedom to express them without flaming one another. :)

Splitscreen has some technical challenges. How would positional audio work with two cameras? Does splitscreen work online with two additional players? If so, would it be exploitable? Does it require extra horsepower to render an extra view of the world?

Splitscreen has some technical challenges.

How would positional audio work with two cameras? It plays audio from both player perspectives at the same time. Maybe if you connect multiple headsets it can split between which ones to use, but I haven't tried.
Does splitscreen work online with two additional players? Only server/host side.
If so, would it be exploitable? Probably not more exploitable than usual split-screen on consoles, like a free-for-all match in Modern Warfare 2.
Does it require extra horsepower to render an extra view of the world? Yes, framerate will drop to fractions based on the amount of players if the bottleneck is already based on the amount of draw-calls. Not quite sure how GPU dependant it is, as the resolution for each player is also a fraction based on the amount of players.
