Invisability is useless or bugged

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 8:17 pm

Getting really tired of the bugs in this game. They make an otherwise great game unplayable. I just now found out that invisability potions don't work. I pop one and enemies keep attacking me without fail as if im still visable. I try sneaking while invisable and archers keep shooting me, sabre cats keep hitting me and soldiers keep following me. I am unsure if there is some mechanic I am missing, but I would like to think that I would not need high skills in sneak for INVISABILITY to hide me from sight. From what I am seeing it works more like chamelon in oblivion but much, much less effective. I can not imagine this is how it's intended seeing as you can not attack while "invisable" without being made visable.

So add this to the list of things that make playing a mage unplayable, along with no regen in combat, spells that don't scale with level, and all the great spells like unlock and waterwalking being removed. This game was clearly made to cater to the brainless barbarian type that just grab weapons, spells, armor and whatever they find; equip them all and slaughter everything without thinking about their characters, or playing a role. Totally not TES game material. This game could be so great.

Are you drinking while out of combat, then trying to sneak? Do you have a decent enough sneak score and lack penalties? They should be able to identify location by sound or last location.

Really? Invisibilty potions work fine for me. Also, if you are being attacked and then put the potion on... the enemies will still be able to find you sometimes...

I tried both using it before combat and after I initiate. they still always find me and start shooting me or comming at me, and once they start they dont stop. I have no sneak skills, but should I need to with invisability? Its frieken invisablitiy!

if you interact with anything in the game (short of running, jumping, and unsheathing weapons), invisibility wears off instantly. you do realize that right?

If you move, you are far more likely to be found. If they run into you, you WILL be found. Try combining a muffle spell and an invisibility potion for maximum effect.

Enemies in Skyrim can hear noise and are drawn to it. So if you are running, bump into something, walk too close, etc. they hear you. Just because they can't see you doesn't mean they can't tell where you are.

There's your problem, yes you need sneak skills right now its like your running around wit cinder blocks on your feet. At the very least take the first 20% sneak skill its a big help.

Think about what you would do if an enemy you were fighting went invisible. You'd keep swinging and when you connected you would know right where they are. You would NOT say to yourself "huh, must have been my imagination".

If you're invisible and trouncing around in front of me chances are I could still smack you square in the face, especially if your in heavy armor

I don't think it is a bug, I think that since the AI is advanced, the monsters realize that you are still there and attack where they hear you.

unplayable!? Jeez. If this game is unplayable for you then I suggest quit playing video games altogether, cause they don't get much better than this.

Invisibility in Skyrim is akin to Chameleon in the previous games. It's not 100% effective now, so don't bother activating it in the middle of combat. I'd call it a 50-75% Chameleon effect.

Not really enough said. You are complaining about an invisibility potion not working as a destruction mage? Learn to sneak. While you're at it, learn to play. Unless it's too "unplayable" for you. Then just press the power button and move on.
