Prompt:
"Describe two problems that were important causes of the Civil War and anolyze how the war and Reconstruction provided solutions to the problems"

I was wondering if this is a good intro for this kind of prompt. Any suggestion on what I can improve?:

The Civil War was a major battle between the North and the South in the year of 1861-1865. Politically, it was the result of the raging internal turmoil of a United states government split into separate factions of proslavery and antislavery. In terms of Slavery, it was viewed as a moral issue in the North versus its defense and expansion in the South. Thus, two problems that were important causes of the Civil War was the political and slavery issue between the North and the South. To provide solutions to the problems, one must also anolyze how the war and Reconstruction take in effect.

It's a good start, but it sounds like you're really only addressing one problem, which is the slavery issue. You say the other problem is political, but you define the political problem as pro-slavery versus anti-slavery. So I would suggest clarifying how the two are different (if they are), or else choose a different problem besides slavery.

Thank you. How about this?:

The Civil War was a major battle between the North and the South in the year of 1861-1865. Politically, it was a campaign of states‘ rights versus federal control between the North and the South. In terms of Slavery, it was viewed as a moral issue in the North versus its defense and expansion in the South. Thus, two problems that were important causes of the Civil War was the political and slavery issue between the North and the South. Your revision doesn't sound too bad. Then you ought to go on and explain what points you'll be making later in the essay, so the reader knows what to expect and knows how your logical progression will flow.

And getting into your style of writing, phrasing the Civil War as a "battle" is a bit of an understatement. Also try to expand a bit on "the North and South." Your teacher surely will know what you're talking about, but try and give as much information as possible, so person who had no idea how the war went down will know what's going on. Oh, and your phrasing of "in the year of 1861-1865" sounds a bit awkward.

I know I'm tearing it apart for small things, but it's what my APUSH teacher did to us.

A great intro imo is to go farther back in time instead of starting at the beginning of the Civil War. You could even argue Eli Whitney's invention of the cotton gin was a significant cause of the civil war.

Sounds kinda cliche. Try something like this:

Martin Luther king is, undoubtedly, the Prince of all Heartbreakers. Slavery pretty much svcked, and the Ray* of freedom shone throughout the land when The Specials forces, The Roots of our nation, won the war in the North.
