1. Destruction or restoration? And can you cast spells while simultaneously attacking with a one handed weapon?
2. Is it better to just focus on being a mage or warrior so you dont have to split your level ups between all 3 stats?
3. Will my character be bad if I don't have Destruction or Archery since I'm unable to kite anything? I dont want to rely on helpers/conjuration btw
1. My Battlemage has no Destruction skills (I consider it to be the "boring" magic tree); I specialize in Conjuration/Restoration. Not sure about every spell, but you can heal yourself (left hand) and attack with a melee weapon (right hand) simultaneously.
2. You can't be great at everything. Personally I invested everything into Magicka and Health, ignoring Stamina altogether.
3. Again, you can't have your cake and eat it, too. Building a character with no ranged skills whatsoever and also shunning companions/conjured helpers who use ranged attacks... you're handicapping yourself. It's your preference, but you can't ignore all of those things and then complain about a lack of flexibility. You don't need to kite to be successful; I NEVER kite enemies. Keep in mind that companions/conjured helpers draw the enemies' attention away from you, whereas if you had no helpers you would be the sole focus and take more damage overall.
My heavily-armored Battlemage conjures Flame Atronachs (ranged damage) at the start of a battle, and I bash the enemies' heads in with my weapon while healing myself and my companion. If the fight gets difficult, I quaff some Magicka potions and raise some zombies to help out. Works well for me.
A strong suggestion: even if you don't want to, I highly recommend bringing a companion. Otherwise, you'll be making twice as many fast-travel trips to sell all the loot you encounter. Also, thank you for giving me the opportunity to use the word "quaff" in a forum post.
