Please help: viable MageAssassin build?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:00 am

I do not like up close melee. At all.

I read the threads at destruction magic not working after 40+ lvl.

So I came up with this build:

Name: Zhuul
Race: High Elf
Sign: Mage or Thief (haven't decided)

Bow (range)
Conjuration (to keep mobs/badasses at bay)
Sneak
Illusion
Light Armor
Restoration (just a few - the mana regen and a bit of healing)

I was planning to put a lot of perks in the top 3?

With this build I figured if I put about my 10 pts each level into mana/health 50/50..... stamina I'd ignore at 100 since I'm hoping to almost never melee.

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

I don't know why people keep asking people to tell them their builds are good or bad, since you should just be able to experiment and play as you go.

Anyway, that should be perfectly fine as a build, although you might want to put more into magicka than health if you are going for more magicky and less front-line combat.

I played this way in oblivion and it was great fun. You're basically a hunter with a pet.

I'd trade restoration for alchemy personally.

Haha, this is actually what I've planned. Use Bound Bows until later on, when enchanting and smithing will make other bows stronger than your Bound one. Though I don't think I'll be using Illusion, due to how unnecessary the spells are. Conjuration should handle most everything you'll need combat wise.

It's very potent, and definitely viable. (I'm also a High Elf, free 5 levels worth of magicka is very useful to start with) And I'd prioritize Restoration a little more, that can save your ass if you can heal fast enough to pull it out for only a split second.

I don't want to invest 100+ hours only find at high levels I'm nerfed.

I want some sort of range attack that will remain viable at high levels 40+, so my impression, Exordiom Plus, was that Destruction wouldn't work well at those levels? (i.e. not every build will work?)

It is less about receiving approval for my build (lol) but rather - has anyone taken this build into the high levels (40+) and found it to be potent?

Yes, Archery is very potent at all levels, sneak is also not required for it to be potent (though sneak makes it crazy strong). So you don't have to worry about being screwed if you're not able to get a sneak attack off (dragons for instance).
