Worst game manual ever?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 9:55 pm

Seriously...it doesn't even mention any of the skills or races. When making my first character I screwed up since I thought redguards had a 2h bonus but they only have 1h, manual doesn't tell you nor does the intro to the game.

Morrowind had at least 2 or 3 times the amount of content in their manual but skyrims is just dumbed down. Elder scrolls was probably the only game I read the manual but this one is just short and doesn't describe anything important.

Even the guide is ported from consoles :/

"CONTAINERS
Containers are chests, crates, barrels, dressers, boxes, dead bodies or creatures, and more. To open a container,
press A. If the OPEN text is red, the items inside are owned by someone else."

Don't know how moving to my left will open a container.

Ok, that made me LOL.

I completely agree about the manual, too, and I'm getting really used to all these svcky ones. The only thing I can imagine is that Prima paid a hefty sum.

Well, mainly meant it is at least the worst elder scrolls one I have seen. I remember reading the morrowind one many times when making new characters, now I have to go online and to multiple sites just to figure it out since not all the information is there still (can't find info any all the powers).

At least the art book from the CE is pretty neat, to bad the manual couldn't also be 200 something pages and in a leather package, that would be amazing.

Only time I ever read a manual is when:

A - Just purchased game, reading manual as I drive home. (Lol @ safety.)

B- I know I'm going to take an excessively long poop.

If youve bought any recent games you would know that skyrim has a "large" manual compared to others.

well its better than a EA manual (theyre mostly just a card with basic install instructions), and thats all you get.

I'm disappointed in it, as well. Although it's far from the worst game manual ever, where is that sincere letter from the developers in the front of the manual?

I have seen 2 page manuals. Seriously, two pages manuals.

22 pages in 2011 is not a slouch

All manuals have taken a huge hit.

The manual for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is basically a folded piece of paper that tells you to get your instructions from in-game. Seriously.

22 pages is huge for a manual these days.

Maybe they want you to figure it out on your own. I don't know, it is an rpg. A little more info would be nice but I guess that is what the internet is for... plus what others have said, its a pretty good manual compared to other games coming out now-a-days.

Batman Arkham City's manual is just the front cover (nothing but a picture) and the back cover (nothing but a picture) with only the standard epileptic seizure warning in-between.

So yeah, 22 pages is godly in this day and age.

Aaaand we're down to complaining about the game manual. What's next, the font on the game cover? Gah, its so ugly. I'm gonna go make a topic about it right now.

FPS games can get away with pamphlets or sheets, but an RPG should have a more complete manual because of all the details and stats. There's usually a lot going on under the surface, and explaining all that takes more than what we got.

Yeah, I know it's a cost-saving measure and hardly anyone reads them anymore, but when I'm done with staring at a screen for the day, it's good to curl up with a good read!

Well we have http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page.
Also I have a I think a 600 page Official game guide: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. You know why I typed 'I think' Because its still wrapped in plastic. Got it for $39 AUD. Gee that plastic feels nice.

I not going to do the same mistake that I done in Fallout3. Got the guide read it and spoiled everything for me.
It is through this forum that I can eat ingredients to see what properties they have.
