Dishonored: Open world or not?....some confusion here

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 9:10 am

Hi everyone,

I loved the "Thief" series and when I saw this I had to pre-order it.

Nevertheless, Is Dishonored open world, aka Morrowind/Oblivion, or linear?

Thanks,

Neither. It is a linear progression of levels, but each level is like a mini-open world. You can do level specific side quests. You can choose to do things different ways. So, it is very open, but not open world

You can wander an area but not everywhere.

You mentioned Thief. Think levels like that.

Not to mention it is a Sand Box style too, where you can infiltrate a target home from different sites

The game is not open-world like the TES franchise. Think Deus Ex or Thief styled levels - multiple ways to approach the same objective.

Hi again everyone,

Thank You! for the clarification............

This is kind of sad. I love the TES games but I've been disappointed with FPS's BIG Time.

I tried to play the first Deus Ex on my machine...terrible graphics & gameplay and I've never played the New Deus EX.

Still, I love the Thief series to death....Seriously.

Any further info about the "Sand boxiness" or "mini open world" style would be great folks.

I'm not rich and spending $60 on a game is a lot of money especially when the game is shallow (I understand that Bethesda is publishing this and not producing it.)

Thanks again,

As far as I know, it's going to be like Deus Ex.

In America new games are usually $60, which is equal to about 37 pounds or 45 euros

Deus Ex is one of the greatest games of all time.
If Dishonored can capture at least a few of the many things that made Deus Ex great, I'll be euphoric

Agreed.

I tried to play Zelda: Ocarina of Time recently, it looked so bad. I really just hate that game, worst game of all time possibly.

From what i've seen and read, i believe they're doing this and also trying to tweak the game to appeal to simple players as well

I love the fact they went with the Hitman style of missions. It fits the game perfectly! Great decisions all around from the development team!
