There is no release date, so probably a bit after then. Sometimes Steam games don't show up until a few weeks before though.

Also, it is unknown if this game will use Steamworks, but will most likely use it, considering Bethesda's support with Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim. If it uses Steamworks then it'll probably show up on the store after the announcement of Bethesda's support.

It probably (but not definitely) will be on Steam. It would be great to have Dishonored on Steam, because Steam is awesome.

I do hope this game will be available outside of Steam as well, so I can actually buy it and support the team.

What do you mean by that? They'd still get plenty of money, if not more. People are more likely to buy a game on Steam.
Anyway, Bethesda would be the one getting the extra money for the game not running on Steamworks.

What I meant is, in simpler terms: only Steam = no buy.

I'm not a fan of steam but I guess it would be on it, everything is these days.

Sounded more like "if it's Steam only, I'm going to steal it," to me. Which is an instant loss of moral highground and complaining rights. Could be wrong though.

Its a hard issue with piracy problems. On one hand its great as they do their best to minimize profit loss, but then genuine players (like me) who doesnt have huge bandwidth to download updates all the time, suffer.

cant they make it just so we go online to verify the game and not download any patches? or maybe have the ability to pause patch downloads and continue next time when we get more bandwidth? or are people with low bandwidth are in the minority that it would cost them unecessary expenditure to do something about it?

You can set steam to not update games. Now I'd agree if it was a constant internet connection drm, but offline mode says otherwise.

Steam could definitely be more friendly to non-online users with updates and such, but since it was originally designed as an auto-updater rather than a store, I kinda see why they haven't done it yet.

That said, I don't see Dishonored being a Steamworks game. It makes a lot of sense for a game like TES, where there are tons of plans for updates, built-in modding systems, etc.

But for something like Dishonored, it seems unnecessarily limiting to people in areas with bad net capabilities.

I love Steam, so I'm fine either way, but I definitely see the concern.

It will more than likely be available on Steam. Once we have official confirmation, we'll let you know.

But what others (not I) want to know is whether it will be available another way too

Yeah, I should have clarified my post as well. Steamworks games (I believe) are Steam only, as opposed to most games, which are on Steam but don't require it out of the box. I can't imagine the game won't at least be available on Steam, since pretty much every Zenimax game is on there, but you never know.

You can set steam to not update games.
You can only set it to not update them automatically, if there's an update out it'll still download it before it lets you play it.

This is good! More popularity for the game + steam workshop.
