Campaign= Only 15 Hours? >.<

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:04 am

Was gunna buy this game until I found out its only 15h of game play in campaign mode. Now, I'm sure it would take longer then that to beat it but still thats hardly no time at all. For $60 I expect a game to take a experienced gamer several days if not a couple or more months to finish!!!!.............. 15 hours????...........I will blink and the game will be over. No thanx!

Sorry, not trying to start a flame war here or rain on somebody's parade but I will NOT be buying this game for $60 and only get 15 hours for campaign mode. I will be saving my money for Skyrim for sure! Now thats a game worth paying $60 for.

Understandable, but id has always said this was a shooter and that the campaign was roughly 15hrs long and another 5-10 more if you do the side quests...if shooters are not your thing then it's just not your thing but to me I would buy this game on just the graphics and gameplay alone...

Yeah, it really looks awesome no doubt about that and was really looking forward to buying it tonight at midnight but after looking & seeing that it dose not look like its gunna last all that long I cant see myself paying $60 for it. Makes me sad really cuz it looks like its gunna be awesome. And i love FPS but hate the high price tag with low content amount. Get a couple days of sweet enjoyment and then back to looking for the next fix and mines $60 leaves me with horrible feeling. :sadvaultboy:

I'm pretty sure there will be players that get 50+ hours in this game on the campaign alone. Maxing out everything and then there is always tackling the game at differnt levels of dificulty...there could be finishing the game in a different style or using differnt types of guns...If you wanted to i'm sure you can stretch this game out until Skyrim releases. If you are low on cash then maybe hold out until it is on discount if not jsut GET it and play it...also it's not 59.99 you can find it on buy.com for 49.99.

I'm pretty sure that the reviews are cutting the Campaign short, but still it's something that doesn't sit well.

id Software makes SHOOTERS, NOT RPGs.

If anyone seriously thought that Rage, while semi-open world, would have RPG length, then they're crazy.

12-15 hours is WAY above average for ANY FPS on the market today. Add 100% completion via exploration and side missions and who knows how many hours on MP and co-op, and you've got well above the 12-15 hour estimate.

I'd say id Software's still got it if they can put out an FPS with cutting edge tech that surpasses the industry standard of 8-10 hours in length.

People pay $12 dollars to watch a 2 hour movie once, but [censored] about paying $60 for ten times that and the ability to play it over and over. Get some perspective.

In a time where the Triple A FPS titles have a singleplayer campaign that clocks in at 4-5 hrs on normal mode, an FPS with a Length of 3 times that for just the main quest should be a god damned museum! With everything iver read and seen about rage im not comparing it to fallout or Borderlands or TES, Im comparing it to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I also don't judge games on how long they take to finish...

I've played some remarkable games that had less than 10 hours of game-play.

What games does the OP buy then? For an fps 15+ hours is a hell of a campaign especially considering they usually last 6 or 7, hell most games aren't longer than 15 unless your talking about rpg's and those really are in a class of their own. Reviewers are on deadlines theu rush through games. I would consider myself an experienced gamer and rarely does a game take longer than 15 hours to complete thats roughly 3 or 4 playing days less if I'm really into it, never has it taken months to finish a game, hell weven games like TES or Fallout aren't very long if your looking at the MQ your looking at around 10 hours or so. Then theres your price argument sure games are expensive but your looking at 4 dollars an hour if it only takes you 15 and you only beat it once thats cheap compared to any other form of entertainment, and then theres the quality side of it is a really excellent steak worth 30 dollars or would you rather have 30 burgers off the dollar menu? Its all a matter of opinion but why bother posting your not picking up the game because you feel 15 hours is too short when that applies to 90% of games?

according to joystick, the campaign only lasted 9 hours including every side mission

There's just not a lot of "there" there - my first playthrough, which included every side-mission and several job board assignments, took me 9 hours and 15 minutes. My second, where I completed every side-mission, every job board assignment, every courier mission, and most of the races, took eight hours and 50 minutes. RAGE ends so abruptly that I didn't realize it was over until the final cutscene began. I was left wondering what had happened.

This is not an open world RPG game - in gamasutra intervew i heard what i always wanted , this is exactly the game i wanted to be. Silent player and adventure-elements make this so much better.

Cod4 took me 12 hours to play in normal. 15 hours for a shooter that is pretty good. I might get it.

If you play it enough to get 15 hours out of it, that's right at $4 per hour played, and it goes down from there.
I figure once I start playing it* and get into it ill pay it at least twice. So if each play is only 8 hours each that's still 16 hours.

Now I know its not like Fallout NV or Morrowind where I was over 200/600 hours, but not everything can be that long.
Besides I am sure DLC will come out for it, and playing with a friend may add some extra length.

*pre-ordered but gonna wait till I finish the fallout NV DLC, gives time for some patches to come out too!

15H and more if u explore all and do all the missions i think it's very good for a FPS !!!

Rage is a FPS first with a little RPG content but for me it worth the buy ! When you know that COD and others FPS are 5 or 6 hours long well Rage worth the shot.

skyrim huh? awesome game guess you will be playing that for a very long time based on your critera because most games that come out are only 5-6 story mode and everything else is about multi-player at least here you get 15 hrs + and multi-player and co-op so not bad for $60 imo oh and by the way RAGE kicks freaking a$$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not going to argue about wheneter you think 15 h is worth 60 bucks or not, that your personal matter. However, in my own opinion, i do think people are getting a bit OCD when it comes to games and their length and pricing. Personally im a type of guy that looks at what type experince a game brings to the table, not what lenght it has, for example, Space marine costed me 60 bucks with s 6-8 h campain and a awfull multiplayer, and i LOVED that game, and i didnt regrett buying it. I cant same the same about GoW 3 with its 12 h (farily lenghtly by shooter standards) campain and decent MP, but i didnt enjoyed it and i had to sell it (which i dont to that often), making me regretting the purchase. But lets face it, TES and Fallout and some jrpgs are freakshows when it comes to the "best bang for your buck" and not standards, and they are very often VERY PADDED experinces i.e repetetive (mostly jrpgs).

Personally i dont have a problem with a 15 h campain, 200 h campain or even a 6 h hour campain as long i find it fun and worth my time and money, thats all im asking from a game.

We've actually been letting people know it's a 15 hour campaign (give or take a few hours) for quite some times. This article is from April of this year.
