I have Skyrim for both consoles

I bought it for ps3 and after I started noticing some really low-res looking items I went out and rented it for the 360. The textures don't seem to be having the same problem on the xbox, but the problems didnt start (that I noticied) until hours into my ps3 game so who knows.Other then that the side by side is what ive been hearing from informed people already.

The xbox version the colors look slightly brighter, more vibrant. Shadows are darker and there are more of them, however they look really blocky and pixelated to the point where I prefer the lighter and missing shadows of the ps3. Also the xbox overall looks slightly sharper graphically but has pretty consistent screen tearing. The major difference I noticed was the water and the PLANTS ESPECIALLY have significantly more detail as well as more branches etc. That really puzzled me. Its like they used lower res textures for the ps3.

As for the ps3 version it looks overall slightly duller, more washed out. But because of this I think it looks more realistic. The vibrant colors of the xbox version make it seem cartoony in comparison to the subdued colors of the ps3 version. also the ps3 version has no screen tearing at all.

Let me know if theres anything you'd like me to compare or answer before I return the rented copy.

After about 5 hours on my PS3, the graphics took a nose dive I think. The first four hours or so, the graphics were real sharp, looked wonderful. But at some point, things began looking washed out, as you said, and less detailed.

Don't know if it's the heat or the amount of memory that began piling up.

Still, doesn't bother me a whole lot. I think overall, the PS3 still got the shaft. But, nothing like compared to OB. Heck, the PS3 had just under half a million pre orders for Skyrim. Still nothing compared to 360, but if Bethesda didn't take notice of that, forget them. After I play Skyrim, of course.

The differences in plant and water detail was well as vibrant vs not as vibrant are there from the beginning. The low res items such as clothes and gold are not. Just to clear that up.
