I'm wondering where exactly I'm supposed to smelt ore? I've got a whole bunch of it but no idea where to smelt it or what a smelter looks like. Anyone have any advice on this troubling problem of mine?

Go to Whiterun. There is a smelter just inside the front gates. Large oven looking thing.

A 'smelter' can be found behind the Warmaiden's in Whiterun.

You can smelt it in Whiterun, just to the right, right after you enter the city

Go to the Blacksmith at whiterun, there is a Kiln there. Big mound of dirt beside the shop.

It's a big, tall, round thing.

There's one in Whiterun, near the entrance.

Think 'beehive' minus the bees but really big and with a pile of coal nearby.
Only some smith locations have these giant smelting beehive things.

I know there's one at Kynesgrove just South of Windhelm (at the farm/mine).
