Xbox 360 V. PS3

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:55 pm

Which is better? The Xbox 360 or the PS3? I'm getting one late this Christmas and want to know the better choice. Please don't get into some big console elitist debate, I really don't care about your standing on which is better. I just want to know which is better for quality, gaming, etc.

Thoughts?

Xbox 360 for social gaming, ps3 for solitary gaming.

Depends on your preference of exclusives. I own both systems and they are pretty similar but I prefer the 360's exclusives and advantage when it comes to DLC. With he latest LIVE update it has validated a payed subscription. Also take into consideration what your friends play on and which controller you prefer.

I prefer the PC, but if I had to choose a console, it would be Xbox. I do own 2 Xbox's mainly as media extenders.

It's a very opinion-based matter because both platforms offer pretty similar, but somewhat different, experiences. My personal preference is the PS3, but I can list a pro list (based on modern times and newer slim models):

PS3:

Blu-Ray player capabilities
typically better surround sound capabilities
free online service
exclusives (goes for both platforms, PS3 has more exclusives simply because Sony, unlike Microsoft, have some dedicated first-party teams, but both have some exclusives)

360:

cross-party chat
can play outside music while playing games
a bit more online service support (at cost of $50/$60 a year)
exclusives

In terms of multiplatform support both are pretty well-matched, now, and in terms of hardware reliability, older issues have been hammered out by the slim models.

I already have a PC (duh) and have played games like Fallout 3 on it before but I'm getting a console in replacement since my computer shouldn't be for gaming anyway. :P

I hear that the PS3 automatically comes with free access to the PlayStation Network which is a plus in comparison to Xbox's payed LIVE membership. A downside is the PS3 uses the Eye and the Wand whereas the Xbox uses the Kinect (which I prefer). But then AGAIN, the systems I'm choosing from have the PS3 with 320GB of memory with the Xbox having 4GB. Mehhhhhh. :I

Personal opinion: Move and Kinect are garbage and should not factor into any serious gaming consideration. :P

If you can't get a hard drive for that 360, definitely go with the PS3.

If you're choosing a console then you should always base your choice on the exclusives, both the consoles are practically the same and if you're not going to buy any exclusives then you're better off getting a PC.

Personally, I think the PS3 has much better quality exclusives, Uncharted 2 and MGS4 are easily in my top five games ever.

I agree. HDD space fills up rather fast.

I would have to say PS3 over all. It has better tech as far as I know (Cell processor, blu-ray, and the rest of that fancy stuff). There are definitely a lot of good exclusives for PS3 as well (Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, God of War, etc.). I've had one since it first released and I've had no trouble with it at all. Of course now that I have a PC I barely touch the thing, it's hard to go back to console once you play on a good PC.

I sold my Xbox 360 a while back and a few months later purchased a PS3.
I never had Xbox Live so I can't say which online service is better, but considering the PS3's is free, I deemed it to be a plus.
The only other thing I missed about the 360 was the lack of exclusives, especially Forza which was really the only game I played.

For me the PS3 seems to run more smoothly and I do think the graphics are a slight bit better. Though neither of these will make or break decisions the only REAL reason I chose the PS3 is because of the free online service. ^_^

There is no definitive "better" console. I have a 360, but I don't really play it and I think the PS3 exclusives are better.

It's all down to personal preference though, I suggest you do some research rather than ask for other people's opinions on which one is better.
