so uhm physics and sub orbital launch

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 4:56 am

I know some of the physics are a lil wonky in Skyrim right now, like I can flail humanoid bodies around like they're rag dolls and can barely nudge a trolls hand.

But just now saw a giant step on a bandit and I swear he went flying past the clouds or maybe it was field of view for models (which I have at max) either way O_o

some other oddity I saw was a Horker that at random flew up and levitated 50-100 feet in the air before I shot it and it fell to its death...

It happened to me lol. And it was also when a giant hit me. Apparently they're pretty strong.

I love watching this happen.

I hope they don't patch it.

I LOVE it.

The first time I saw a giant, I picked a fight with it. It bludgeoned me and I was launched upwards into space, pretty much.

One of the things that I like about the Elder Scrolls/Fallout series is the wacky physics.

Being launched into orbit by a Giant was my first death. My Wife found it highly amusing.

I seen a Giant attack the fort near whiterun, I watched as the Stormcloaks tried to defend it, I was literally in tears after seeing a soldier get belted into orbit. I had to pause and try not to loose consciousness from laughter.

The physics do seems to be a little high-strung in certain areas, and they've caused enough reloads to be frustrating. That said, some of these things are hilarious. :-)

My favourite is still the ominous dead giant's hammer, slowly but surely levitating up into the air. And the oblivious farmers, casually tending their crops beneath it.

Either it was ascending into the heavens, or dem farms be cursed. Either way I skillfully ignored it and walked away.

I used the Dragonrend Shout and it sent a Dragon into orbit... only happened once but it was beautiful to watch.

Heh, I tried casting reanimate dead on a dragon's skeleton, and it launched it for about a mile. One of those totally unexpected "um...whoops!" I wonder about the poor farmers that it crashed on >.<

...I'll admit though, I do take some pleasure from glitches like this :)

I watched Lydia get launched like this. She went so high I lost sight of her and never found her body...

RIP Lydia :(

I love blowing away a bandit or whatever and thinking, "Yeah there's no way I'm finding that corpse"

I used unrelenting force on it which only seemed to push it higher...

I think the giants are 'supposed' to launch you. Lets be fair, that would probably happen in real life if something so big it made the ground shake belted you with half a tree.

It's so funny when it happens. Adds to the charm of the game.

This.

joking :P I love the hilarious game physics, however there are a few things I'd like to tweak
( mostly inertia and accelerated motion )

I didn't know about being launched into space by Giants until one day I was trying to kill a Mammoth when the giant hit me. Lydia was probably like "HOLY CRAP!!!!"
