Joysticks for flight simulators

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 9:28 am

Hey everyone I've bought a couple of flying games recently and it seems that my trusty ol' Sidewinder Precision 2 has stopped working ( :cold:) so I'm looking for a new one.

The Sidewinder had 8 buttons, an 8-way hat switch and a throttle. I'd like the new one to have a similar setup. I'm not looking for an arcade joystick with only a couple of buttons and I'm also not looking for any complex joysticks used in realistic flight simulators.

EDIT: oh and it has to have 64bit drivers for Windows 7.

:P Thanks guys, the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro looks great, the other one looks a bit too advanced for me.

 Thanks guys, the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro looks great, the other one looks a bit too advanced for me.

The only major difference is the throttle attachement, which I find a lot more immersive than using the + and - keys for acceleration/deceleration.

This is the one I use. Best joystick for the value, bar none.

The Logitech does have a throttle lever. It's just not quite as... huge as the other one.

I have http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Sidewinder-Force-Feedback-Joystick/dp/B00005NIMB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324828996&sr=8-1 from when I used to play those years ago... probably can't find it for a decent price anymore though.
