pimp my bowler hat, any ideas?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:25 am

So this year I'm in my senior year and around here we have a traditional day that we celebrate we only have 100 days to go called "Chrysostomos".

Now we all get a http://images.villagehatshop.com/media/christys-bowler-main.jpg and we are supposed to do something unique with it.

So I'm looking for some ideas to pimp my bowler hat.

to give you an idea this is stuff I saw last year:
-a mohawk made out of drinking straws
-changing it into a drinking hat with beercans
-a birdscage
-etc.

enlighten me with your crazy and original ideas

If it's supposed to be personalized, shouldn't you come up with ideas yourself?

Construct a small village on top of the hat, complete with mice.

Also - Best topic title of the year right here.

Sharpen the edge of it so it's razor sharp. Then you can throw it at people and cut their heads off.

Set it on fire, call it unusual, and sell it for about $300.

Set it on fire, dump paint on the ashes, call it unusual modern art, and don't sell it because it won't be worth [censored].

Put razor blades along the rim, and learn to throw it.

Wear a suit and a name tag reading "Hello my name is: Oddjob"

    Edit: Ninja :o

You could just go with a feather like some fedora hats have on the side of the bow/ribbon.

I don't understand why you are asking other people for help if you have to personalize it? I fail to see how your bowler hat is going to be personal with someone else's ideas. Maybe you should think about what makes you unique as a person and try to link that to a metaphor or a theme and go absolutely crazy with it...

I'd go with that. You could stick a clockwork orange on it somewhere, the eyelashes (like this eye http://www.soundonsight.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/a-clockwork-orange-3-1024.jpg), maybe a bit of Nadsat around the rim; make it a Droog themed hat.

I remember Jonathan Ross sporting a particularly tasteful bowler hat some time ago. It was adorned with a large, ornate spike of the type that you get on cast iron railings. I have to say, it was pretty awesome. Sort of a gentleman's Pickelhaube, I suppose.

Edit: wrong sort of railings. These things are important!

That's a bit dangerous because we saw ACO last month in school so there's probably going to be at least 5 :P

Oh and BTW: I might have chosen the word personalized a bit in the wrong meaning. I meant the hat has to be unique.

Coat it with terra cotta. Impregnate terra cotta with chia seeds. Moisten, and watch your seeds grow. It's a flowerpot you can wear!
