I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with it. I was thinking about getting it for my sister.

From what I have heard it is a good game that younger gamers can easily grasp but can be rather expensive since you need to buy each character individually. You do get a few with the system itself though but from what I've heard it really helps to have a handful of extras.

I miss Insomniac's methods.

I read somewhere that one of the original Spyro developers said that seeing the new spyro is like seeing you daughter on the cover of an advlt film.

Just let Spyro die already, he was my childhood and now look at him...

I got it for the 3DS and it's actually pretty fun.

Someone in my family got it for Christmas and I played it with him for a few hours. He's 7 and we have an age gap of over double that and we both managed to have fun playing it together. It does a great job of making an easy to get into and fun action rpg, it being a "kiddy" game shows through at times but it didn't bother me too much. Biggest bother was the dialogue..it was very, very childish at times. The big bad guy takes the generic "funny bad guy who always loses and does so in silly ways" role and the NPC's all have to make jokes that sound like they were written for a cartoon desperate to make 8 year old's laugh. Oh and another thing..if you don't have one of at least every character type you will bump into things regularly that pretty much say "You don't have that already?! Go make mommy buy it so you can unlock this door and get a cool new item!!"

I wouldn't really recommend it if you're going to play alone and you're an older person. Games like Torchlight have more depth, replay value and lack the childish dialogue that I couldn't imagine an advlt sitting through without a kid to play with. That and you don't need to buy the game+ a ton of $10/each characters to get the full game experience.

As a note I played it on the Wii, I'm not sure what the differences are between the versions.

EDIT: Here's an example of the dialogue/gameplay that bothered me, if you can stand this you may enjoy the game alone. My point still stands though, if you're older and playing alone you can probably find a better game you don't have to invest $100+ in to get the full experience. Oh and sorry for the annoying dude narrating the below video. I couldn't find one that was just gameplay and I wanted to use that boss fight as an example of some of the worst the game has to offer.

Skip to 9 minutes in if you get really, really bored. The whole video is good example of the worst of the game though.

I just want one more traditional Spyro game like they had on the PS1. Is that too much to ask?

I understand that it hurts to have Spyro look different from the way we remember him, but I don't think my sister cares.


Why not make the game without Spyro though? It looks like it could be a nice standalone.

Get Spyro 1, 2, and 3.

He looks hideously mutated.

It's as if millions of childhood memories suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Spyro has joined Crash Bandicoot and other things like Toonami and old Cartoon Network in the graveyard of childhood memories

My opinions on it above weren't judging it as a Spyro game, just as an action RPG. I've never played a Spyro game and didn't really consider this one going into it.

I did miss the sister part earlier somehow so half of my points are invalid but I guess it helps you decide if you could personally stand to play it with her. It's really a game made to play with two people.

I got it, and she loves it. She wants to collect the characters.

I made sure to show her what the real Spyro looks like. XD
