Expanding my "collection" of fun classic games

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 3:13 pm

I've been going on an eBay spree buying some great classic games I didn't already own. I've run out of sources for recommendations, so I'm turning to you all. The consoles that I'm currently looking to find games for are the NES/Famicom, and Sega Genesis. I'm not into a lot of RPGs that came out on earlier consoles with the exception of the Mother series and similar ones, not any of the FF series and such.

My collection as it is:

NES? Defenders of the Crown. GET IT NOW!!!

I see you have Little Samson, but you need Little Nemo: The Dream Master. It was kind of like the first Kid Chameleon.

You also need Dragon Warrior, Jackal (anybody remember that gem?), and Operation Wolf.

Genesis wise, go Comix Zone, like suggested by the first replier (so good, it must behttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azIZwsCGjW0, lol at the fake Nirvana). Probably my favorite cult game on Genesis that wasn't an RPG. Also, Chaos General was and still is enormously fun to play with another person.

Edit: How could I forget http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql3-VMBJSvA. And Jurassic Park and Beavis and Butthead on Sega.

For genesis get Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Wolfchild, I spent a lot of time playing those as a kid.
There's one other game for genesis I always played that I can't remember the name of..You were an immortal guy with dual swords and you could mix items to make weapons that shoot lightning and stuff and you traveled through portals to get to different levels..anyone know the game I'm talking about? I'd actually like to play it again myself Chakan: The Forever Man.

edit:oh and Ecco the Dolphin

My NES collection has been going quite a while, maybe 2 years. Looking for bargains is the best way to go about getting them, I once bought out nearly all of a local hock shops NES games because they were closing down.

What'd that one set you back? A good condition copy is a bit rich for my blood right now (it and Earthbound make up that club). The most I've spent on one cart so far was $65 for Mega Man X3.

$15, I know the owner of that mom & pop store pretty well, I get close to 50% off on a lot of games. Earthbound set me back $100, but totally worth it.

Lucky. :P I've never seen it for less than $60 and that's in so-so condition. One of the best shmups out there though, definitely worth it!

I play a lot of them quite frequently. My cave of despair is where I keep the tied up damsels.

I've got a NES recommendation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRgoE958vec.

It was made by Konami and has some great Castlevania-esque gameplay in sections. Sort of a top down shooter in others. And a couple first person gallery-shooter sections. Even a poker simulator.

nes: spy hunter, burgertime, top gun 1&2, days of thunder, nintendo world cup, superspike v-ball, super dodge ball, viper, friday the 13th, superman

sega: super high impact

A couple of my favorite NES games: Crystalis and The Guardian Legend. Blaster Master would be the third, but you already have that. You seem to be missing some obvious classics like Castlevania and the original Legend of Zelda, but I guess those would probably be expensive.
