How do I lower the resolution of 1080p videos?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:20 am

I am trying to start a youtube channel (I'm not going to promote it in here don't worry) and I want all my vids to be at MAX 720p, as 1080p (What I usually play in) Causes 30 second clips to be over a gig. I've tried compressing them with WMM but all I get is an image that looks like someone's dog ate my recording and spit it up at my doorstep. I'm recording with FRAPS by the way.

also, even after converting the files to .wmv it wouldn't save the compressed version. I've basically given up on Windowa Movie Maker.

The reason I am choosing these forums to ask this is because you guys are nice and it isn't your job to help me... I always get bad service from people who are payed to answer my questions

I don't know anything about video software, and I apologize for being off topic here but - Is that a pony wearing a plague doctor mask?

Yes Jerhicco. Yes it is. Haha... My profile pic used to be a plague doctor, then I became a brony, so I went halfway.

I've always found converting to AVI more successful.

I'm sorry but... What is that and how do I do it? and how does this make the file smaller, therefore more managable? (in other words, can I get details?)

You could put it through Handbrake.

I use Adobe Premier to compress the files (and stitch them together). It takes a 10GB video down to around 300MB. Handbraking works well too, though for me I found that when I handbrake videos and then upload them, the first 10 seconds or so are gray.

Raw video is always going to be huge. You need to compress it with Handbrake or some other video encoder to make it smaller.
