What is this? I don't even....

Ok, so I've been a member of Valve/Steam since it's launch and I've never noticed this before.

I had a message. I thought it was from one of my three friends I have on Steam and I notice it is listing "Items in my Inventory". What is this?

It comes up and says I have (0) items in TF2, (0) items in Portal 2, and (2) items in Valve.

So, I click on it and this is what it shows as being in my "Inventory":

"Half-Life 1"

and

33% Coupon valid 1.2.2012 - 3.1.2012

I already own "Half-Life 1" so if I were to give this away do I lose my HL1 or is this a second copy? And, how do I use this coupony thing? I've never seen this before, as I've said, I'm not very popular and don't have many friends so I don't know what this stuff is. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks.

Oh, also, can anyone suggest any games ot use this 33% on? Maybe Batman Arkham City?

Those are items from the recent Steam Winter Sale (ending today, I think). Every day, aside from new sales, they put up objectives you could accomplish to win either something from their gift pile (coupons and games) or a piece of coal (can be either crafted into a gift item or kept as a draw ticket for their contest). Any objectives you were a;ready qualified for would have been passed and deposited the related prizes into your inventory.

EDIT: Oh, and no, the gift copy of Half-Life 1 shouldn't be any threat to your existing copy.

Ok, cool. Thanks. Just goes to show you how often I pay attention to what is going on in my Steam account. I usually just log on anymore to click on the "Play Skyrim" button. Now I need to find someone who doesn't own a copy of HL1 that I can gift this to. Any takers here?

Have you ever used a coupon? I want to purchase Arkham City and some of the DLC but I don't know how to use the coupon.

Nevermind, the coupon only applies to Valve's library of games. Damn, I haven't bought a Valve game since Half-Life 2: Episode 2. So I guess I'm gonna gift the coupon too.

Sent it over for you.

I still have available the 33% coupon. Anyone wanna trade me Arkham City for it? If not, that's cool too...at any rate, if you want 33% off of Valve games lemme know.

I'll happily take the coupon but I already have a 25% coupon and I can't use it :(

Since Portal 2 is 75% I wanted to get the game for free but it seems I have to pay the game first (through paysafecard or whatever I want) before using the coupon...and I don't have any money, which is why I wanted to use the coupon  If anyone has some ideas, please share them :P

You won't get a game for free with a coupon. If it stacks with a sale then you will get 25% off of the sale price, not 75%+25%=100% discount.
