Mage armor and companion ?'s

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 6:26 am

Hi all,

1.) Full casters typically wear cloth. Why not light armor? What do we gain by giving up at least some physical protection?
2.) Leveling is based on using skills. If you take a companion (Lydia), it means stuff dies quicker and you don't use your own skills as much. So doesn't this mean that not only will you level half as quickly, but you'll have trouble making it to the level cap?
3.) How the heck am I suppose to lay down tons of magical power when the melee companion characters are engaged with my targets? It's next to impossible to not hit them.
4.) Is there anyway to tell how high level a quest or area is? I decided on this new character to head straight to the college of magic before starting anything else. Ok on the first part but when I got to the "hit the books" part, (i am level 3 at this point) those mages kicked my cloth wearing butt! (not to mention the dragon priest by the nearby word wall made me look very....very silly)

Thank you very much for your time.

-Shaen

p.s. In case it matters, I'm playing this on the PS3. (hopefully will be able to afford a new laptop next summer to experience the game with all the cool mods people do)

1) Light armor rarely has the same enchants that robes do.
3) Strafe to the side and attack from a different angle.

There's a perk in the Alteration school of magic that makes protection spells up to 3 times as strong if not wearing armor.
