Bastion

Why did no one inform me of it? The only way I found out about it was through a RPS post talking about its music, which, by the way, is totally awesome.

I love the atmosphere, and the tone of the game. Not crazy about its artwork and assets, but hey, this is the first game of a newly-incorporated company, which company consists of exactly 7 people. Of course it'll be barebones.

If you don't know about it... I guess it can be described as an fantasy arcader with RPG elements. No, it's not amazing, but its very decent, very strong work, considering a 7-man company created it.

Unlike a lot (and I mean a looooooot) of games out there nowadays, this deserves our money. If you're looking for an interesting, pulp-y, noir-y, light action-y fantasy game, throw your money at http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1330315-bastion/s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsupergiantgames.com%2F%3Fpage_id%3D242&ei=2NUIT7-kEtOyhAf5ltSuCQ&usg=AFQjCNH9YJDwk35SfpkEhuFtoRw8n31trA&sig2=5oHm7pZsYcrWrJOj-uoHcg.

Am I to assume no one's played this game? Follow the link above. There's a free demo available. Try it out.

Has anyone even heard of this? http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/17/wot-i-think-bastion/.

One of my favorite 2011 games. The art style is awesome, and the narration is like nothing I've ever seen before. The gameplay is not that great, but it's still fun. What's more, though, you can https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oohphhdkahjlioohbalmicpokoefkgid (you can also play the full game in the browser but that's not free).

One of my favourite indie games of this year. Love the music, and the presentation of the world/story with the narrator. I'm planning on replaying it soon in new game+ mode (cool how that is sort of integrated into the story) and to see the content of the free DLC and go for the other ending.

They did a live recording of Zia's Theme/Setting Sail, Coming Home the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGxgFxF47XY

The art and soundtrack of the game is excellent, the story isn't bad but the game was a bit short. I did also get annoyed close to the end whe you get the weapon that makes you move so slow, I left that vague due to spoilers, but I did play through the game a few times already. The narrator also has an awesome voice. Got it during the Steam sale but I think its worth the full price.

I don't know, I think if it had been much longer it would've started getting repetitive. 8 hours for one playthrough with some extra bits of content in a new playthrough was okay with me.

I think what makes it stick out to me is that it's so different from what we're accustomed to, nowadays. It's low polish and finesse, but very big on effort and "heart". Big developers are all about polish and finesse, and not enough about the extra mile and "soul".

Maybe my favourite game of 2011. Yes, even compared to Portal 2, Deus Ex and Skyrim. It's a bit strange that I like the game so much, considering that

I don't like the narrator -- I think the story would have been more effective with an "unaffected" voice
I don't like the graphics -- although the aesthetics are brilliant
The story was just okay -- I really dislike elements of philosophy in games, especially when they're front and centre.

I guess the "heart", general gameplay and style of the game win it for me. I may be biased here, though, because I've been itching to play a modern interpretation of CRPGs, more specifically CJRPGs, and this, I think, is exactly that.

One of my favourite indie games of this year. Love the music, and the presentation of the world/story with the narrator.

The music and storytelling are the best parts of the game. The gameplay is solid, but the music and storytelling elevate what would otherwise be an alright game into something really engaging.

I did think the last two or three locations could have been done differently. And there are a lot of things I'd improve or add upon if I had a say but, as I mentioned, it's a really small indie team, so all things considered they've done an impressive job. The overall plot could have been better, but I did enjoy the way progression in the game and the story is conveyed.

I wonder if a sequel's planned. Hope it sold enough copies. The graphics and gameplay could do with an upgrade and expansion, so I certainly hope so. It deserves a sequel.

I saw it reviewed on a television show yesterday before that I had never heard of it. Apparently the narrator has over 3000 lines of dialogue.

I tried the demo thing you can install right to Chrome. Got bored quickly. I didn't have sound on though, I'll try again with it on later.

It's utterly useless without sound. The narration is the one killer feature of the game.

That doesn't sound promising. I don't play games for narration

It's certainly not for everyone, but the narration gives soul to the whole thing and it's how all the story of the game is told. Without narration it's just a generic - if pretty - top-down action game.

I got it off Steam for $4.99. Best $4.99 I've spent in a long time! I really enjoyed it.

I got it on sale and wasn't disappointed. I put 12 hours into it over 3 or 4 days and it was very memorable.

Playing Bastion with the sound off is like playing Audiosurf with the music off. You're not getting the intended experience.
