Anyone here have an iPad?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:18 am

I got an iPad for my birthday, and so far I really like it. It's an iPad 2.

The only thing that irratated me at first was having to have a credit or debit card to download free apps. I used an old debit card with 6 dollars on it and now I download all the free apps I like.

So who here has an iPad?

I'm hoping to get one soon. But aye, a new computer is better. A new computer can also play games that aren't made in a afternoon!

Might want to wait, apparently the iPad 3 is already nearing release.

I'm glad I didn't buy one then. Have to trade it in a [censored] year after it comes out. It's like CoD. (I'm glad I don't play CoD.)

I've been on these forums with my iPad all day. I'm glad I waited till the iPad 2 came out to get one.

I just bought an HP Touchpad and I love it. It has comparable (some better) specs to the iPad and was half the price!

I got one for Christmas, and I really like it. I might end up selling it and putting the money towards a laptop instead though, just because that would work better for college. I already have an iPod Touch that works just as good as the iPad does.

Without meaning to be mean, I think its silly to purchase an iPad.

Of course, I do think they are neat. For example, all those apps -- pretty cool! Also, it seems like decent quality and so forth.

However, they are really expensive, and I always laugh inside quite well when I see someone using an iPad or some tablet like one would use a laptop, which is fairly often at my school.

Also, I do not have an iPad.

EDIT: rude

Yeah, wait for the iPad 2 to drop in price and buy that  That's what I did when I got my iPad 1. Plus by the time the 3rd one comes out, the iPad 2 should be completely jailbroken, and that means you can install ScummVM.

I wouldn't sell it for a laptop, shorter battery life + weight + low reliability make laptops pretty annoying imo.

A better solution is to get a bluetooth keyboard for note taking, and get things like TeamViewer and Dropbox for remote desktopping and cloud storage. Assuming you have a home PC of course.

I just don't really see the point in laptops anymore, tablets and netbooks are much better as sort of thin clients, while desktops beat them completely in power and reliability stakes.

I got an Acer Iconia A500 Tablet on boxing day, 64GB for $300 so I figured why not? It's a fun little thing, and I mostly use it as a fancy e-reader and movie watcher when im on campus between classes. It has a USB port so i can plug in a mouse or keyboard if i feel like hardcoe typing, and I can plug it into my TV at home with an HDMI cable to watch netflix videos i DLd on campus (to get around my bandwidth limit at home ;) ). TBH it's not radically different in functions from a notebook, and the notebook would probably have more uses due to it being Windows. It is, however, extremely lightweight and easy to move around.

Agreed. Of course I think the best option still is one of the Asus transformers. Best battery life of all the tablets, a full keyboard, Android instead of iOS (you can even install a linux distro on there if you are so inclined), ICS all around, and the best mobile office suite made thus far (Polaris Office, OEM only). Just waiting to make sure ASUS isn't going to change the back panel of the Prime original (god, that's awful to type) to the Prime 700T before I pull the trigger on what model to get (I'm really hoping they do change it, but I don't think they are going to). RDP and use it as a thin client while at home, have all I need on the go. Best of both worlds and a top-notch battery life to boot.

I thought I could move my works from laptop to mobiles after I got Notes, but I was wrong. Mobile apps are just nothing in comparison to windows apps.
