Would you get very far in the game as a hostile character?

I'm playing as a goody two shoes mage right now but I keep having this urge to reroll and play as a Orc or otherwise some beastly character who just lives in the woods and attacks humans. A primitive creature.

That would mean I'm cut off from selling goods, doing quests, and pretty much everything though right? Seems fun at first when thinking about it but then reality sets in that it would become boring after a short period of stalking the country side for victims with nothing else to do in the game.

And there's not a whole heck of a lot of victims in the wild, either. You would have to raid villages. It's just not that kind of game.

You'd have to set up a limitation like you only attack those that aren't your kin. Pick an orc camp to stay loyal to and whatnot. It sounds kind of fun but there'd be a lot of the game that you'd be missing out on - especially quests that take place inside of towns.

While I agree with previous posters, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try, and then tell us what you think of it.

You'll have to be flexible.

For example, before you raid , you want to go into it peacefully to "scout it out", right. Maybe help a few victims with whatever quest they're on.

Then you can raid their town when they are unsuspecting.

That'll probably help fill out the experience a little :D.
