Blogging and Use of Screenshots

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:14 am

I have been searching online for a number of days concerning this matter. After coming up skimpy on pertinent material, I figured the Bethesda forums were the best bet. Even in here, I have yet to find any definitive information in prior threads, and I imagine many members here have had some experience in the matter.

I'm working on a personal blog, and my first post concerns The Elder Scrolls and Skyrim. Screenshots, which I have taken, are a natural fit for related media and my desire is to do things right with the copyrighted works. In general, the good practice is to seek the permission of the copyright holder, but I have not been able to find Bethesda's policy on the matter.

The one recurring item I see is the 'fair use' principle, but I am seeking any additional information on the matter.

Thanks for your attention.

You are allowed to use those screenshots on your blog as long as you're not using the blog to earn money through advertising or anything like that.

Official screenshots are most likely copyrighted though

Exorince, thanks for your quick response. I had gotten that impression from those articles pertaining to fair use and video games, but I figured it was best to double check with individuals more fluent in matters of this nature.

Thanks again!
