Angornians can breathe underwater, useless?

What is this best used for? Has anyone found any underwater caves or treasures? The only benefit I can think of is hiding from enemies but that's no fun.

nothing yet. I use the mage water breathe spell which caps the duration a bit, but I've looked in a lot of places under water. The few things I found were in dungeons and did not need water breathing of any kind.

Side note I am irritated you can't cast any spells under water or heck just swimming on the surface even ones on your self, you used to be able to pull off touch and self only spells.

There is a quest I've yet to complete that asks you to retrieve something from a sunken ship I guess it could be used for that... Otherwise it's mostly a RP feature, they have always been able to breath underwater it would have made no sense removing it.

None of the starting gifts are game-changers. Play the race that you want to play.

@Sauroken I was just asking did it have any use. Other races seem to be balanced as far as racial stats so I assumed it would have some purpose. Most of the abilities are game changing because depending on what it is it could make some areas of the game easy and others hard. Like If I pick nord frost dragons will be a piece of cake but fire dragons will be tougher and If I pick dunmer vice versa.

It allows you to go clam-hunting without having to come up for air every 10 seconds....

Slightly easier fishing and item gathering I suppose.

Wait....

I can drown?
Everytime I swim, I fail to see a breath meter or anything and I'm pretty sure I've spent a good minute underwater.

I'm sure I went to a cave that was water-filled in some place. Although, thinking back, I can't seem to remember where the hell it was or why I went there.

Might be due to my high stamina (270 I think), but I can sit underwater for a good 40 seconds before my health starts to deplete. Orcs are good for warriors, double damage death and half damage taken for 60 seconds. I use Breton for magic resistance though, beng able to absorb enemy spells for magicka is useful to.

There are underwater areas, so yes it has a use. When I write that none of them are game-changers, what I mean is that everything is augmentable with a spell or a potion or an enchanted item, or whatever. Some of the racial bonuses are passive, like the resistance, and some are daily cast-ables, like the Nord's battle shout. I assume you're asking the question because you appear to be evaluating which race to play based on their starting gifts. What I'm suggesting to you is that min-maxing your starting race and adding lots of value to the racial bonus may not lead to your most satisfying experience. Play the character that best represents you or one that you like looking at the most. Then, play it the way you want to play it and your skills, bonuses, and other abilities will form up around you based on your style. That's the beauty of the the Skyrim character development system.

Cheers :)
