A friend of mine who works with square enix had a few very vague things to say about the final fantasy series. He claimed square enix pitched a few ideas about final fantasy xv today. Square enix is considering making it their final main final fantasy. They pitched ideas for characters and plotline. They discussed making it more like the traditional final fantasy but still making it an action rpg. It was discussed to make it open world and incorporating themes from and allusions from all the previous final fantasies. They discussed more but that is all I found out. I asked more but my friend just had one thing to say. It will be worth the wait.

Indeed, we don't need that here. Not to mention they probably already started on FFXV a good while ago, they just haven't announced it because they put the promotional focus on FFXIII-2 and so on.
