Let me make sure I have this straight...

So I'm currently playing a fairly low-level destruction/conjuration pure mage and I made the mistake of coming on the boards to see how people are enjoying the game. I'm hearing a lot of people complain about pure destruction mages. I don't need to be overpowered but I also don't want to struggle at the end-game. Am I going to be ok as long as my destruction is backed up by something else like conjuration?

You will be fine, but it's still a crappy problem. The magic damage in the game needs to be reevaluated.

Go to school and study hard in ALL the magical schools. Mages are all powerful.

It's not about how powerful magic is as a whole. People want to blow stuff up and they should be able to.

I'm less concerned with balancing each archtype (Combat/Stealth/Magic) then I am making each one both fun and having many viable builds. This is a single player game.

As long as you have something to distract the enemies and soak damage you will be fine. If you stick with your character past level 40 then you will have to start kiting enemies for longer periods of time as they're health goes up but destruction damage stays the same.

Don't take what people say on here as mages cannot be played, just that they are very annoying to play as on higher difficulties past a certain level if you rely on destruction to do your damage.

really? that sounds like its challenging and fun and i can just Quick save everytime i destroy 1 as i did at level 11 with my first Dragon fights on master difficulty at 75-50-25 and 5. I'd rather have to interact and try and find places to get to to regenerate magic while dodging projectiles and healing myself up using shouts to kite them and fight then go M1+M2 4 times and dead

Well, a lot of people like to feel like their character is growing and becoming stronger as they level. It's the main reason people hated Oblivion's scaling. There are many ways to increase your own personal challenge in the game. You don't need to limit other peoples ability to develop their character over time.

Then you'll have tons of fun at higher levels.

While i do believe that it seems to get weaker after maxing from a bud then if they patch a scaling it should be something ala enchanting. Or even just have something on enchanting that Increase Damage or spells on Armor lots. I don't see why people want to run around and 1 shot things never will but ik lots of people do
