i hope he leave Beth to start his own company then we will see another great sandbox RPG ..
it's way too much to wait 4-5? years for a new game to be released :-P

if he did that he would no longer have the licences to use TES and no longer beable to make TES games meaning some person with less skill would take his job and the new TES games would likely svck

I would also like to know how much power hes got, not that I mind because I happen to think hes a cool dude and I do like lots of his ideas minus acrobatics being dumb I disagree on that big taime

The board is probably thinking very high of him since he got his hands on TES the series became very successful, can't be a coincidence.

They sold 7 million copies of Skyrim after the first three weeks - that will buy a lot of good will from his bosses.

I was just wondering, some of you say you like Todd's direction with the series and such. Does nothing in Bethesda happen unless Todd Howard gives his approval?

I don't think anyone besides Devs and the man himself can answer that.
Are you disatisfied with his leadership?

From what I've seen and heard from interviews with Todd and other members of the team is that they start with a vison of what they want and everyone contributes to the vision. He seems to be definite about certain content and open to others' creativity as well. They tell about being given a general idea of what is wanted and how they then go and create somthing and sometimes it's what was wanted, sometimes it becomes what is wanted and sometimes it doesn't make the cut. It seems like a real team effort to me but there can only be one captain on a ship unless you're on the Black Pearl.

Yes I have reasons to believe he's been given free hands in everything Bethesda (game studio) does. The best proof is he's directing both TES and Fallout, whereas I think both franchises would benefit from different teams with different directors.

I think both game series would be much better with seperate teams to concentrate efforts into quality instead of quanity and streamlining.

if the game is as simple or simpler than skyrim, i have my answer, as far as, direction goes.

i have no idea about beth or todd's psyche.

Only for a little while. begun rich or make something that not make before, or fame or infame don't make men god. Though it's might make life easier, but it's can be easier to be dishonorable and dislike as well.

Eh, I'm not a big TES guy, but he shouldnt have free range in Fallout AND TES, you could see a lot of core gameplay similarity between Fallout 3 and TES. While this isn't the gravest of evils, it is lazy design to just surgically copy and paste another series's gameplay into another game. I'd like to see the Obsidian devs be in charge of Fallout's writing, and Bethesda in charge of world building.

Don't tell this to anyone, but Bethesda Game Studios is just a front for a cult called Order of Todd. The members all participate in activities such Evil-friday night's fried chicken buffet, not to forget mentioning Blood-curdling super-brutal poker wedensday! They also torture menbers from this board by tickling them to death, but if they can survive before Todd's feet become all proony in the hottub, they'll get to live. But here's the catch, Todd's feet are always proony, yet never proony!

So to answer your question, yes, Todd is God.

Hes been lead developer on some of the most successful games produced in recent years
I'd guess that means Zenimax gives him some leeway but if he failed to produce the results they want (which I'd think are sales) I'm sure they would rethink his position

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Zenimax isnt supposed to have any creative control over the series are they? I recall in that History of Bethesda series one of the reasons they agreed to partner with Zenimax because Zenimax allows them total creative freedom? Wouldn't this make Todd and the board essentially the 'end of the line'?

We would never equate Mr Todd Howard to the actual God of any religion. Yay verily he is a man of greatness that is rare and worthy of appreciation and thanks just as the rest of Bethesda is. And who is to say what it is that truly maketh man and if once we pass on from this adventure we begin anew perhaps for eternity or for a set number til true death comes leading us to the truly unknown.
