Would this PC Build Be Enough to run skyrim With added graphic mods on max settings?... or a game like witcher 2 on max settings?

EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX580 DS SUPERCLOCKED 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-E - $830

CORSAIR CML8GX3M2A1600C9 VENGEANCE LP 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9

$180

http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=HDDSAM1064 - $180
WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR BLUE 500GB 16MB 7200RPM SATA HARD DRIVE $130

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W ATX Power Supply Unit $210

SH-B123 Blu Ray Drive ( dunno how this is, can't find anywhere on the net to buy from in NZ )'

INTEL CORE I5 2500K SANDY BRIDGE 3.30GHZ 6MB 95W LGA1155

No, 1.5 GB of VRAM is kinda pushing it for a full blown texture mod setup for Skyrim. I'd be more comfortable with the 3 GB version. Also, how is that GPU $800...? The highest on EVGA's website is $700...

The 3 GB 580 is $550. http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=03G-P3-1595-AR&family=GeForce%20500%20Series%20Family&sw=

I wouldn't spend over $250 on a GPU, I also wouldn't spend more than $250 on a motherboard. $180 seems really expensive for 8 GB, it should be like 60-$80 unless the Thailand floods affect RAM manufacturers?

That build is super overkill.
I run Skyrim on http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.791295
that setup. I am running beyond Ultra. I got the official Hi Res textures.
I increased grass distance past ultra. I have it load 7 cells instead of 5.
I get 60 fps. It can drop into the 30's in the hot springs place which is the lowest I've seen it go.
It doesn't stay there either. I just fought a dragon there and it was generally 40-50 fps.
Although I'm only running 1280x1024 resolution because that is all my monitor can do.

I dunno about how the Witcher would run.

First off, saying "no" to this is crazy. A GTX 580 will run Skyrim very well regardless of the amount of VRAM.

Second, can you back this up with any actual data? Every review I've seen of the GTX 580 3GB shows barely any increase over the 1.5GB version in any game even at high resolution and AA settings. The overclocked versions of the 1.5GB version typically perform better than the 3GB version at stock speeds. The reference designs of video cards have the amount of VRAM that they have for a reason: the GPU manufacturer has determined that it's the amount of VRAM the GPU needs to operate optimally. Unless you can find the extreme VRAM versions of cards for good prices and at comparable GPU and memory clockspeeds to the reference VRAM versions the additional VRAM probably isn't worth it. I've seen a few exceptions to this, but not many.

Third, AMD/ATI just released a new GPU architecture and word on the street is that nVidia will be dropping a new one soon. Video cards are about to get better, and the existing tech is about to get cheaper, so keep that in mind when deciding what you're going to buy and when.

He wanted a bunch of texture mods. For that, 1.5 GB won't be enough. The addon alone takes 1 GB. Add in other packs, and you're already over 1.5 GB

And the reason for the 3 GB is to have a larger buffer.

I know what video memory is for. What I'm saying is that the VRAM isn't necessarily where the bottleneck is. Adding more VRAM doesn't always make things faster unless the amount of VRAM is where the bottleneck is. A lot of the time the GPU's texture fill rate or memory bandwidth ends up being maxed out before the amount of video RAM makes any difference in performance.

I haven't seen any data that shows that a single GTX 580 benefits from 3GB of VRAM outside of extreme AA settings (ridiculous stuff like 16x AA at 5760x1200 resolution). Outside of that the 3GB version doesn't perform any better than the 1.5GB version. If you know for a fact that the 580 benefits from the additional VRAM for larger textures in Skyrim then I'd love to see what the numbers look like, but you can't assume that it's going to help unless you actually benchmark both configurations and see if the price difference is worthwhile.

and keep in mind the pricing is from NZ sites in NZD.

I just want to build a Rig that will Play Games on Max Everything.

My 5870 was $550.

Op, I would just save up and spend a good amount on a pc and go for top of the line today. That was you can skip a few years with no upgrades.
A bit over two years ago I built my current PC for $1,600 and until last month I did no upgrades to it, then I got the 7970.

yea thats what i plan to do, i started buying the cheaper stuff now and hopefuly by time i can afford to buy the other things they are a bit cheaper.

This is my first build so I don't care to much about getting super top of the line just something that i can keep upgrading to while being able to play games now days on max like Skyrim ( with mods ) and Witcher 2
